Filled the divots with JBW and then hit it with my DA sander with 100grit. I mixed some of the cast dust in with the JBW. The colour isn’t a great match but it will be under a piece of aluminum and not seen. It was just my OCD couldn’t let it go

Why not make it an attractive piece. Put a stop so the head won't fall when loosened and chuck a milling cutter in it and start at one side and cut a smooth semi circle in it all the way to the other side. Then cut and file a brass insert to fit in there and you now have a drill press with a sacrificial piece. A CNC cutter would do it a lot easier for cutting the brass. Only drill press in town with that throw away piece. Just for thought, my second hand drill press has the holey smile in it from before I bought it, None of the holes are less than 30 years old.

I actually drilled and tapped a couple 3/8-16 holes in my production type drill press table to screw a 3” long eye bolt into to use as an anti-spin stop. It gets removed and screwed into the table from underneath a small amount when I need it out of the way, or if I want to use it as a hold down bolt for the vise by running it up higher to put a washer and nut on it.
This is a great idea! Thanks!
