Drill press table lift

My Wilton drill press table is so heavy to raise and lower. So I installed a boat trailer screw jack to aid in lifting that heavy monster. Work smarter not harder.

I had a problem with weight as well. I added a couple of gas shocks. Now it cranks up or down with equal pressure. Down side, you can't rotate the table around the column without breaking the shocks loose. I've never had the need to rotate this one.

I also went with the scissor jack but I am going to have to borrow the crank wheel idea. That does look slick!

Brain fart.. I have a table crank.. I put a bottle jack on the table to raise the head.

I put a rotary table on the base of my Canedy-Otto DP and swung the table out of the way. I had an old HF electric winch with pendant. Slid a tube inside the column and mounted the winch with a sling under the DP head to raise and lower it. Powered by an old motorcycle battery.

My Wilton drill press looks very similar and I made a powered lift for the heavy table. Gearhead motor and an acme threaded shaft.

I made a lead-filled PVC counterweight that goes in the column with a pully at the top of the column. Connected to the table by stranded cable. Keeps the underside free for storage which is a HF side cabinet on casters.

Found the old thread (from 2012) but pics are gone. Here are a few. The PVC pipe is sized, lengthwise, to give me as much travel as I usually need. If I need more, the cable can be detached. Diameter fits perfectly in the column with just about 1/8" clearance as I recall.

This is my first post and thought I would share this here instead of a new thread.
I have a 1936 DP220 that I wanted a table lift and came up with this.
An old Craftsman RAS column and lift assembly mounted to a very badly repaired spare table.
It works quite well no binding and allows the table to swivel easily, was free. Its a bit large but...

I love seeing pictures of MY drill press. That was # 15 a while ago when I was just finishing putting it together. It's change a bit since then.
