Has anyone used the drill press to mag drill adapter? This adapter lets you use mag drill bits such as annular cutters in a regular drill press. Wondering how well it works or is it a waste of time? Pro's and con's of such a piece? I have this drill press if it matters DRILL PRESS

I have a very nice quality 20" DP and I highly doubt the quill could handle the torsional/deflection stress of a annular cutter during the start of the cut. I use those in my Mill with no problem, but maybe your results will vary.

Haven't used one, but wouldn't mind trying. Hopefully you have a quality drill press, that will go slow enough, and have good quill support. That price seems whacked, cheaper here http://www.penntoolco.com/annular-cutter-holders/

I think I have a quality piece of equipment. The drill press will go down to 150 rpms. http://www.jettools.com/us/en/p/jdp-20mf-20-floor-drill-press-115-230v-1ph/354170 I see the one you posted is like almost half the price on the one I was looking at. I figured Fastenal was more but it's an easy place for me to find parts...

This is why I'm asking :3gears: I don't know and really didn't want to spend money if it wasn't going to work. I would be ticked if I tried it and it didn't want to even start it!!! What kind of drill press do you have? I posted what I have above...

I looked into this when I had a bunch of pipe notching to do. I ended up grinding them in with a round stone on the grinder.

I'm not sure what you want to do but if you could use a pilot shaft in the annular cutter like a counter bore bit it may help. For those one off jobs sometimes you can make do by ***** footing around a bit. Maybe even use a counter bore if they make one big enough.

I think the slowest is 300 but it might be 150. To be honest I'd actually have to look. I rarely ever change the speed and leave it at its slowest setting.
