Drill press value

I found a craftsman 17” 1.5 hp drill press for sale about an hour away. It operas to be in good shape. I’ve been on the lookout for something a little bigger. The guy is asking $100. Are these decent or should I keep looking?

That’s a pretty good deal. If you’re looking for something bigger, you can still use this one and keep looking for a bigger one. Who knows, it may suit you fine. In any case, you should have no problem selling it for what you bought it for at $100. Easily.

I think I paid $125 used, for the same model 10 years ago.Don't let the skinny drive belt fool you, it's a good drill press. I did add a table lift to mine

Im a cheapskate and I will not even talk him down. An 8in hf is $75 new and that im sure is 10x the drill press. Pretty sure that is the same one I inherited

I had one similar but it was 15" with 1/2 HP motor and it sold very quickly at $175. For 17" and 1.5 HP, $100 is a steal.

I've never used one, but for $100 I don't think you can go wrong.
Pics can be deceiving on larger dps... I wonder what the column diameter is on that one.

I had one in the early 90's, I think mine was a little earlier than yours but it wasn't a bad drill press that's If everything is working and runout is good; then $100 is a great deal. Looks like it has the table lift and hopefully some good slow speeds on it. Mine had three pulleys allowing slow speeds. I tried to break it (DP) every time I used it but it never broke so that a good sign.
