Drill Press

I have had a walker turner drill press for years. I have never really needed it for anything till now. The problem is when I bring the quill down to the work piece the drill bit ***** to the left. Is this a bearing problem would not surprise me given the age, I would say in the fortys. Any ideas?

Is the bit tight in the chuck? And what size bit? I have had this happen with small bits, but not when getting up to 1/4" or larger.

Can you post a picture? Worth a thousand words...

Could be slop between the quill and the head casting.
