I made this drill sharpening jig a few years ago, sharpens drills from around 3mm to 13mm. I usually only sharpen by hand/eye, very rarely use this jig, but it is good for precision sharpening if you want an accurate sized hole.

Point angle is 118degrees and indexing is by eye. Drill is advanced in the jig by turning the knurled knob, then locked in position.

I didn't have a mill at the time so the slot, V and bore where all done on the lathe. Lots of parts inside but it works well. I had to make up a slotted table in which it slides, I've since replaced the grinder with a better one.

The knurling on the knobs was done with a scissor knurler I made around the same time. I didn't make a box for this one, so it just sits on the shelf quietly rusting away. Once again, no mill, so made on the lathe.

My Drill Doctor works fine for me. Sometimes the bits are so sharp they grab too much drilling aluminum and I kinda have to dull them a little with a file so they're not so aggressive.

Here is the deal, you're new and I'll cut some slack once. We don't do the name calling and drama thing here.

If you have an issue with that, perhaps you should find a place to hang out.

There are a plethora of different design drill jigs on the market, some look great, others look like they'd make more work than anything else. I designed this one to be simple and quick to use, which it is, but not as quick as by hand.
