I'm installing a Revolution RTP10 two post lift in my garage and I need some advice about positioning it. The instructions say I can set it up with drive through clearance of 99" or optional 105". Space isn't an issue, but wondering if there are any disadvantages to setting it up at the largest width? Wondering if the maybe the widest setting would negatively affect the capacity or stability. I'll primarily be using it to work on my old cars.

Agreed.. Go wide.. it will help not only drive thru.. but will help when you need to open doors to get in or out.. or reach in to pop hood/turn keys/read door tag etc etc .

Wider puts some more strain on it, as your cars won't be wider, and posts will be reaching farther away to get the weight. I would still do it, though. I pull my trailer through my lift. My trailer is 102" wide. Anything to help opening doors will be a great benefit.

Bought two 2 post lifts new so far. First was around 99" and when I ordered my second lift it was ordered extra wide and my third will be in the 103-105 range as well. You won't regret going with the 105, IMO.

Thanks for the feedback on the width.

I am also wondering how much room I should leave myself to pull car engines with a cherry picker. Would 15’ from the center of the post be enough? With my 67 GTO I suspect that would leave me with 7’.

In my last 30x40 shop the lift was centered on the 30' side, so 15' like yours. It will work fine. I had my tool boxes against the wall in front of the lift and it was a little tight with the CC/LB but still useable. Plus the tool boxes could be moved for more room.

Thanks. I have enough room to go 18’ to the back wall of the garage. That will leave me 15’ or so to the garage door. Doing the install tomorrow.

Mine is 108" and I can tell you, I wouldn't want the 99" if I could have 105". You won't be sorry.

Install went smoothly. I went with the widest setting. I have about 8' from the front of the car to the workbench on the back wall of the garage, about 8' from the back of the car to the garage door, and just over 4' between the near post and the wall. Plenty of room to park in the space next to the far post. I drove the Firebird straight in and I still have about 2' from the post. I need to get an electrician out here to wire it up. I have power in the ceiling, but the receptacle/box is on the wrong side of the lift.

Now that is a really nice garage Gator.

The electrician hooked me up last Friday, so I'm good to go. It is so nice to be able to work on a car off the ground. So much easier!

Next up on my shopping list are some wall cabinets, engine hoist, under lift jack stand, transmission jack, and oil drain can.
