I have a Chamberlain at the Farm. I added a second sensor to cover a blind spot. Not sure if there is a limit on the number of sensors off the top of my head.
Let’s me know if there are pigs or varmints in the yard.
It’s been working for years.
One thing : use Lithium batteries in the sensors. They last longer, and don’t leak. Alkaline batteries can and will leak, which ruins them.

I got this one for my parents' place. It only detects something magnetic (IIRC) so no false alarms from critters. I think my father placed it low to the ground and around 125 yards away from the house. It occasionally won't activate but I think it also depends on how fast someone drives by it and how tall the vehicle was.
It has to be close to the driveway. He had it mounted to an utility pole at first that was 10 feet away from the drive and it would hardly work at that distance.
They also use a very cheap one that is motion activated so birds, deer and even falling leaves can set that one off.

We have some IR sensors (think garage door sensors mounted, except weatherproof) mounted on my dad's gates connected to a relay and timer relay, that controls a couple of bells, one inside and one outside.
Something goes through the gate, it activates the relays, and runs the bells until the object clears for ** seconds. The occasional bird or deer goes through, but only sets it off for a a second or 2, not long enough for a vehicle (he's on a highway, so no pedestrians).
I'd have to go over the wiring to tell you how its hooked up... we did the relay wiring 5 tears ago. .
