Driveway question

I posted this in my shop thread but figured I would have better luck here.

This is the driveway that goes around the house to my shop.

It is asphalt.
Right now it's to difficult to get my big truck and trailer back to the shop area.
Its a good 36' combined rig.
I want to remove the trees on the west along with the curbing and either do asphalt or concrete in that area.

What is the more cost effective and more durable solution?
The area to fill would be about 15' x 200'
Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Do you need to remove all of the trees or just some wher you turn round that corner ? Asphalt would be my suggesttion seeing is that is what you have already done.

I would like all of them out for the room. That back corner is real tight because I also have my well right there.
Plus it's an excuse to have more "parking" space.

Ok. Thinking about other ways to fix your problem - How about a tow ball on the front of your tow vehicle ? or is it a 5th wheeler ? Would that make it easier to move your trailer ? I can also understand the need for extra parking space.

I would have to go with hotfr8, keep a couple of the trees near the road if that is where where we're looking to. Leave the two trees near the road and widen back from there. Have you considered having the corner on the wall (center picture) restacked at a 45 degree angle or a radius?

Yes, I should have said that. Keep a couple of the trees near the front gate and widen the driveway further back to allow a better turning parking area.

The driveway you see starts, set back behind another wall.

That back corner you see is my back yard. I'd rather take from the tree's, than take from the kiddos play area if ya know what I'm saying.

I'd suggest asphalt mind aswell keep it uniform. If you are looking for a cheaper option they sell chopped up asphalt that because a better looker and more solid parking / turning area then gravel without laying new asphalt

I see what you mean now. You may have to cut into that back wall to make an easier turn. Front driveway is also very sharp so I see why you may want to take out all your trees. I would try to keep some trees if you can as they do offer some privacy when green.

When I first suggested that you angle the wall I was thinking second benifit would be less mowing of lawn but that looks like a nonissue in the back. Are you fighting the overhang of the roof on the house also? That white line in the picture is not a property line is it?

It looks like your kinda stuck there in keeping with your first ideas. As for keeping the kids coralled consider that that is for a very few short years. They will soon be looking for places to ride bikes, and then on to go-karts, and then cars. That sharp corner wall in the back yard is a hazard to there movements, and to the drunks leaving the shop who cut the corner a bit.

How many feet wide is that drive? Looks like an easy 18-20ft?

I would hate backing down that with a 48ft trailer and tractor (have done it before) but just a pickup and 20-30ft trailer shouldn't be too bad. If anything just 45* the wall like the others said and it will allow you to see at least.

the photos give a better perspective of your problem.

I think you may just have to change that back wall so you get a better turn in your driveway. Be carefull that your neighbours do not think you are building a racetrack.
