Driveway sealer question

Ok just thinking out loud here, what if I painted the inside of my garage floor with the normal style tan epoxy that everyone uses and then continued it outside on the first slab of concrete on the driveway ( about 8 feet ) to protect against any oil drips or whatever from the cars parked in front of the garage. My drive way has the wood strips inbetween the sections so I would have a nice break in the paint. It sounds like a good idea but I kinda want a second opinion.

Here is a pic of my driveway just for an idea, you almost cant see the top of the driveway from the street. Any ideas? good ? bad?

I have never been a fan of painting concrete that is exposed to the elements. Now that I have given my opinion, please tell us more about the car and post some pictures of it. I am way more interested in the car than the concrete driveway.. :lol_hitti

I believe (I am no expert) that the problem will be UV degredation of the paint over time. It will discolor and fade no longer matching the paint in the garage. Now I believe you could apply a clear urethane protective coat over it that might work. FWIW I beleive there are systems for painting concrete outside.
Lastly, your house looks great! Is that Fibercement paneling or wood clapboard? sorry for the off topic question, but I'm just really curious.
Regards,
Rick

Well, sorry to say but the 54 chevy caught on fire and burnt up about 3 months ago. Its ok Im over it and I have a 64 Galaxie now that Im happy with. But I appreciate your excitement over the old cars haha :)

the house is new and its its some sort of siding, not real wood on the walls, although it has wood and stone on the edges. Im sorry I cant tell you the material although it feels like a tin or metal of some-sort

My reasoning for this is to protect the driveway and I was thinking using a clear sealer would lock in any dirt and oil thats already on the concrete. I love old cars and I hate greasy oil stained driveways, and some times those two ideas dont mesh so well haha The more I think about it the more I think it would look out of place unless you have the garage door open. Ill keep looking...

If you were to apply a tinted (not clear) urethane it may hold up quite well. True that epoxy is not designed or intended for constant UV exposer, but some urethanes will take that abuse. Check with your intended supplier for data on their products. Another problem would be that most slabs outside do not have a vapor barrier. That would be my biggest concern!!!

My continuous floor slab extends about 12" past the bottom of the garage doors, and got the same shot-blast and epoxy treatment the rest of it did; it hasn't deteriorated at all in the seven years since it was done, but it has turned from tan to almost the same color as the adjoining driveway concrete due to UV exposure. It faces south, gets full sun until mid-afternoon, and thermal reflection from the garage door surfaces. It's much less noticeable now than it was when it was tan.
