Does any one use it?

Any brand preference?

My driveway is in sorry shape with some big cracks running the full width.

My driveway is 19 years old. Paid Sealking $145 twice to seal it. It's getting crappy, cracks that were short, are full legth. I've bought the best **** at Menards, and the cheaper for my first house. Every winter, the stuff gets scraped off little bit at a time when shoveling!! The Sealking stuff is way better. Depends if you like applying it. Dad was told by an asphalt guy, it's all for looks, does nothing. Hope that helps! I'm debating on cement next year, but we'll see!

I like Henry 532 Driveway Resurfacer. The cheapest price I have found is $32 plus tax at True Value Hardware. For cracks I use Henry 305 Crack Filler.

From the Asphalt Institute...

"Sealing is effective to renew old asphalt surfaces that have become dry and brittle with age, to seal small surface cracks and surface voids, and to inhibit raveling (loss of surface aggregate). So, sealing should be done as soon as any of these distresses are noted."

Very cool, thanks for the insights.

I'm doing this more for aesthetics, our house is on top of a small hill so the driveway is in plain view from all directions

I got tired of the work and expense of sealing my 4400 sq. ft. driveway, so I had it oil & chipped this early summer. So far, so good.

Before putting the surface seal coating on, I highly recommend using some sort of flexible crack filler. The thin surface coating will still leave the cracks open, which allows water to get in, erode, expand with freezing/thawing, etc. In this way, it's like concrete: Do the proper base prep to make sure what you do on top isn't a wasted effort.

I did this stuff at my last place when I had asphalt, but now my driveway maintenance involves a box scraper and adding gravel every 5-10 years.

Would be interesting to learn more about the chip sealing that 58Yeoman did. As with public streets, it would seem to be an economical way to resurface and extend driveway life.

I had alligatoring in a couple places on my driveway. IIRC, it was two years ago that I used the trowel-on crack filler on those places. You can trowel it on and push it into the cracks. Guess what? It all cracked again the next year. My current solution is that they sprayed the "oil" on, then covered it with the pea gravel, then rolled it numerous times. My drive isn't/wasn't perfectly level, so some spots were rolled differently than others. I now have a couple places that has more loose gravel than others, and I may just shovel it up late this fall, and use if for "patching" when it needs it later.

I had a trough where the blacktop met the concrete pad in front of the garage. They filled that with the oil and filled it with gravel. Nice and smooth now.

I was not a fan of the Henrys resurfacer. I get the home depot brand they carry
Latex-ite Driveway Filler Sealer Ultra Shield. It seems to hold up really well, problem is my driveway is long, takes 18 buckets!

I really want to have this done, but haven't found anyone locally who advertises this for residential driveways
