Driveway has multiple spots, some small some medium size where it is spalled/pitted. no large cracks, mainly cosmetic. is there a diy product to patch these that would match existing concrete or would you recommend hiring some one to resurface entire driveway. it's about a 26x26 driveway. not sure what costs would be

Pictures? I've had a few small pits where individual pieces of aggregate have popped out and the stuff Home Depot sells has been fine at filling those in. All the home stores have a full line of products for this sort of thing. (For small, common types of repairs.)

I've had to re-do a few drives just like you discribe for warranty purposes. My concrete sub always used Ardex- never had any problems with the product. But, I certainly had problems with H/O's that insisted it be "replaced"- Then I'd have to explain that document they signed...

This typically is caused by excessive water/moisture coming up through the concrete in areas that experience below freezing temps. More than a few of our neighbors had this problem 4-5 yrs ago (our sub div was built on '02-'03). One tried to have it 'over coated' with concrete while a couple of others had their drives torn out and re-poured. The 'over coated' did not hold up for more than a couple of yrs, while the re-pours still look good. The important thing, regarding a long term 'repair', is to reduce the water moisture issue (which often caused by over watering the backyard).

And yes, HOAs can sometimes force you to tear it out and re-pour it. Not saying this right, but it's just the way it is in some cases.

I've tried everything on mine over the years. The best I've found so far for poppers and pits is sanded tile grout with latex additive.
