My garage is under my house and my house is on a hill. The back wall of the garage is completely block. I'm going to finish it with pressure treated furring strips and then Gladiator Garageworks Gearwall (slatwall system) over the furring strips (2x4s screwed in flat)
My question: Currently the garage has a drop ceiling which extends all the way to the block wall. The metal strip that secures them is screwed directly to the block, and the cross bars for the ceiling look to be riveted in place? Should I modify the ceiling length so that the metal strip screws into the furring strips? Should I just ignore it and build the wall up to the drop ceiling overlapping a bit? The ceiling has cut rock wool insulation on top of the tiles which can also be a pain to deal with.
How should I deal with the drop ceiling?
