Drop Light - Bright as the Sun

The Flashlight - Bright as the Sun thread is great for "cordless light"

Looking for a great solution for my retractable 120v drop light. I have a CFL in it now and if I work in the driveway it just does not work well in the engine compartment with the sunshine. In the garage it is not much better.

I searched the forum and it seems most people just use a CFL.

Any sugguestions for a replacement bulb or I can cut the light off the cord and install something else if needed.

Home Depot now carries CFL 300W equivalents (68W actual consumption, 2,700K/warm color temperature, 4,500 lumens) for $15. No personal experience, but that seems pretty bright.

Those CFLs are gigantic..3.8" wide X 9.25" tall....

I don't think they would fit inside of the metal enclosure of a traditional "standard" drop light...
