I want to build a workbench that attaches perpendicular to my current garage shelving, which is 2' deep x 24' long and has three tiers. It will be hinged where it attaches to the first tier and hooked to the tier. The issue is where to find leg supports that fold in and can hold either 2x4s or 4x4s. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Im not sure if this will help but I used 2x4s with gate hinges attached to the work surface. I found attaching a brace to the two legs greatly improved stability. I stressed tested mine by jumping up and down on it and he held just fine. (For the record mine was really inspired by Mr.Olsen's benches so i would definitely check his out too)

Thanks, I'll probably incorporate the gate hinges into my build too.
