Dropped circular saw - loose guard!

While getting my circular saw out tonight, I set it on a board and went to plug it in. Before I could get it plugged in (and before I could see or catch it), it fell on the concrete floor about 3'. I gave it a once over and everything looked OK. Plugged it in and got ready for the cut. Once I turned it on I heard the blade rubbing the guard. ****. Turned it off, unplugged and looked at the guard and it appears loose near the center where it is attached to the (arbor?spindle?shaft?). It's a Craftsman, about 5 years old. Is this fixable? Sorry no pics but I can get some tomorrow if anyone has some info. I've hardly ever used the thing so it still has the original blade in it, therefore, I'm not sure how the guard is attached, etc...

Take the blade off so you can get a better look. You may just have to replace the guard or just the retaining ring for the guard. Sears has exploded drawings online for parts.

Is this fixable? a guard ... not likely, think about it.

A Snap Ring retains the Guard which pivots around the Shaft bearing on most circular saws. An easy repair most of the time. Definitely look at the diagram to see if yours is that easy of a fix!
