Dropped motor for my Dunlap drill press

I have been freshening up an old drill press I inherited from my FIL when he passed away. I believe it is a Dunlap. When I was putting the motor back on, the motor fell off. I probably should have been doing it on the ground instead of on a bench so at least it wouldn't have fallen as far. The motor is probably fine, but the pulley is missing a big piece.

I'd like some input on how to handle this. I was thinking of just grinding down the rough edges and just not using that speed. I'm not sure I could find another pulley if I tried, and honestly, I'm not sure I want to sink a bunch of money into this thing. It has sentimental value because it was his, but I know its not a high end press.

Thanks for the input.

Either replace the pulley or smooth the edges and use as is. You might get a bit more slippage in the gear, but the belt shouldn’t jump off.

image.jpgI have a bunch of old multiple step pulleys on hand. What size do you need?
It looks like the biggest step is 4” and is on a half inch shaft. The shaft doesn’t have a key. It has an Allen head I. The side to hold it on.

If you're going to replace the step pulley, you need to find one that's an exact match. Otherwise you will have to move the motor to adjust the distance between the pulleys every time you change the speed.
