Drum shop fans

I am shopping for a large 48" drum type shop fan to cool part of my warehouse so I can get some car work done. I am in Houston TX and right now the inside of that metal building is like a convection oven.
These fans are pricey so I want to make sure I get my $ worth. The best one (I think???) is from Northern Tool for $359. It is a 48" , belt drive, moves a max of 19,500 cfm, NOT MADE IN USA. You can guess where.
Are belt drives better than direct drives?
Are there any American made fans in this size and price range?
Looking forward to your advice and or suggestions. And yes I did use the search function and found threads on ceiling fans and Big *** fans but nothing on the drum type fans.
Thank You
Jorge

The description sounds like a Cattle Barn fan? I would try the local Farm Supply store. That way you can touch it and look it over before purchase. All the ones I have seen have belt drives on them. Which IMO would be cooler as you wouldn't be cooling (Heating the Air) the motor.

Quietaire manufactures a large variety of fans and coolers right there in Houston. Maybe stop by their facility and see what they have in person before you purchase.

Belt drives are quiet.

I'd recommend you shop on CL as these are listed all the time in the $100 to $200 range. No real need to buy brand new. Fan either works or it doesn't !! ;)

SS, thanks for the suggestion. I will look them up.
CNG, I have been looking in CL, so far I've found one that reasonably. I will be looking at it this week. Most of the time they want too much $ and not willing to negotiate.
Thanks
