Dryer wiring assistance

So while not exactly garage related but knowing y'all will be able to help, here it is.
At my previous apartment, the dryer plug was 4 prong wired as pictured.
New apartment has a 3 prong plug which is the same configuration as the dryer had when new. I have the old plug ( pictured). No markings or colors on the ends. I'm assuming they just go left to right but want to verify.

You need to move the green bonding jumper from the green screw at the lower left to the center screw of the terminal block because the dryer is allowed in existing installations to be bonded to the neutral for grounding, then land the 3-wire ring terminals to the block in the same order as the cord was molded so it's line-neutral-line.

as long as you get the center wire on the gray cord to the center screw on the dryer the other two wires will go on each of the out side screws.
so the two out side screws are for the hot wires. which are the out side wires on your gray cord. So the middle wire from the gray cord on the middle screw and then one wire on each side of it.

But to double what Norcal said you need to move the green wire on the machine to the N when going to 3 wire. Seems I have seen some with a strap that gets installed.

Thanks guys. I don't believe there was a strap as the gray cord was what came on the machine originally and I wrapped it up for down the road so it's doubtful I would have tossed anything.
If you see a puff of smoke and the lights flicker in North Dallas then it's a safe bet I screwed up

That's probably why most dryers don't come with the cord/plug, as you can then buy a 3 or 4 prong to match what's installed in your house/apt..

Yes i have seen that before.

In the OPs case, the green wire on the dryer has a ring terminal already on it, so just need to put it on the center neutral position on the terminal strip.
