I'm hanging the rock on my garage walls tomorrow and am wondering if I need to space it off the concrete foundation (frost wall)....

or can I just rest it on the concrete and screw it home to the studs?

moisture wicking up through the concrete would be the concern... not sure whether it's necessary to make allowance for that or not.

I’d use green board for any areas that you are concerned with moisture. We never use regular drywall in moisture prone areas

I have the same condition in my garage. We left the drywall just 1/4" above the top of the stem wall to prevent moisture wicking and concealed the crack with pvc quarter round.

Thanks for the replies... I couldn't get J channel so I went with 1/4" shims and left an air gap.
