Drywall cost?

I am building (stick) a 30x30x10 garage with 2 10x12 doors with vaulted trusses. How much should I expect to pay to have drywall installed? If they supply all materials and labor?

I know its a tough question but I am looking for a ball park price.

I have a typical 20x20 garage with a 7x10 laundry room that I need drywalled. 1st quote was $2500. Seems a little high, waiting on another quote.

Are you wanting them to hang it, finish it and prime? Get three quotes with details of what there doing.

ihad a 24 x 36' two story shop building with 10' ceilings on the first floor and 8" on the second done for $2700 . There are no interior walls, just a shell. I have hung a fair amount of sheetrock and I was going to do it, but my wife talked me into contracting it out (wasn't too hard). What was most impressive to me was that four guys hung all the rock before lunch on the first day. Walls, ceiling,stairwell, all of it. I would have still been trying to figure out why my first outlet cut out was for a left handed version of the room I was working on. I was amazed and felt that it was worthwhile. At the time, the materials from a big box were around a third of the installed price. BTW, if you are going to insulate, have that quoted too. I was going to do that as well and it was a wash between buying the insulation and having it done. That was a very simple decision. That crew was done by coffee break.

Yup! Drywall and insulation just doesn't pay to do it yourself unless you also do it for a living. Between the break they get on materials and their experience with installing it, it just doesn't make sense to do it yourself. That also goes for painting if you have a lot of it to do and find a reasonable/reliable painter.

I have a very similarly sized building (24x36, 2 story, 10.5' ceilings down, 8' ceilings up). However, my sheetrock cost me around $3600 if I remember correctly...but, I had them do radiused corners and wrap the window openings so I didn't need to trim them out. It was amazing watching those guys put that stuff up in no time.

Agree, if you need more then 5 or so sheets put up and you don't have 10 friends who are willing to help best to just pay for drywall. We found it was 10% more to have a crew come in and do the house then we could have done it for. They did an entire 3,800sqft home in 4 days if we would have done it with friends it would have taken 4 months and wouldn't look near as good.

That said if there was any area of the home I would consider doing start to finish it would be the garage it doesn't have to look as perfect.

19-20 per sheet to hang and tape. plus whatever to paint. figure 32sq ft per sheet, do the math on how many sheets you need, at 15% and that should get you to a rough number.

edit: this is labor only. you'll still need to buy probably 75-80 sheets.
edit: i found my old spreadsheet- I paid 1500 for 80 sheets hung and taped, i provided the drywall and the screws. they provided all the mud. total spent was about 2200. 27.50 per sheet i guess is the math all in.

I just got a quote for my 24x24 garage with full texture and finishing for $1100. A previous quote was for $2600 for the same space and materials so it helps to shop around.

Around here it is about $20 per sheet to hang, tape and mud, plus supplies.

Sometimes people have luck with guys doing side work for cash. (other times, it can create a headache)

You might be able to save yourself some cash finding some drywall guys that do side work in the evening or weeekend.
