Drywall Cracking - Garage Settling ??

So over the last year I have noticed both a vertical crack in my garage drywall and then I noticed this spring a drywall crack in the ceiling that runs the full width of the garage.

I have an older style ranch home built in 63 but in the 80's the garage was changed to a double car garage.

I am thinking that with the drought we had last summer perhaps the addition side has settled causing the cracks. Though how much cracking should I have before I get really concerned. I am not noticing any major shift int the floor or foundation.

They are real eyesores and wondering what I can do to cover them up, etc.

I looked at a house today that had a bow in block wall of a foot w no cracks in drywall upstairs
I wouldn't worry about a crack in garage at all until somthing has moved more than a inch or more a stick frame building is able to move so much more than u think
Plus if u are on this forum u would rather build a bigger garage than have your slab mud jacked wouldn't you lol
So tear it down or don't worry maybe insurAnce will pay 75% of the new garage

Yeah, I am not seeing anything like that happening foundation wise.

I just don't want to re-tape and mud to have it crack up a again.

Is there any products out there for ceiling cover up, I.e. plastic panels, etc.

poor mud and dry wall installation will exhibit these, about a year or so after installation, as things dry out, settle and such.

Repair or replace, that is the nice thing about drywall, fairly easy to DIY.
