I have a 30x40x12' climate controlled pole barn. I had originally planned OSB walls but the price has literally tripled so now considering drywall. For those who have done drywall in a pole barn, have you experienced any excessive cracking of taped joints from movement/settling?

I guess we'll find out. I get terrible winds out here and my walls are all drywall. I taped the main walls a few weeks ago. I've had my four interior rooms finished and painted for a month. So far no issues. Honestly I doubt it will be a problem. Houses move also but drywall never cracks, its why we tape it in the first place!

I framed between the poles, insulated and the put up drywall. I did not go over the poles because I like the look of them. Here is a pic.

I did the same. I like the look of the poles standing proud between drywall sections. As a bonus, laying the sheets horizontal means you can finish the whole building with no **** joints.

I did this a few years back. There was minimal cracking in just a few spots, but for me that was worth it - it was a working garage so I was ok with a few minimal imperfections.

I have drywall in my pole barn. We used 12’ sheet if 5/8” mounted vertically. No cracking of any type. We did it in 2017.

I framed out flush to the poles and did drywall in my shop it's only been about 2 years but so far no cracking. I also used 12ft sheets standing vertical.
