I just thought of something I saw the other day on the news....

I figured I'd throw it out there before this starts into a "Toyota helps the US economy too" thing....

The 3 US automakers contribute roughly 8-10% of the GDP for the US. 5% alone is the payroll for Chrysler, Ford and GM the other 3-5% is the supplier base.

The jury is out on how much more is contributed via 3rd party money....
(Food, gas, hotels, insurance....etc)

Just something to think about when someone tells you thier job is not related to the auto industry.

What is a large problem as stated by the metal tester in his last post is the cheap products show up in the supply network and by the time alot of people figure out what is wrong with these products the quality producer is out of so many sales the company is gone and the cheapy maker uses the bogus parts sales that put the real quality company down the tubes to improve enuff because he funded it with unfair business practices to do it and nobody in the government cares untill it is way too late or to make some Washington BS'r look like a hero for their own good

I feel out of breath after reading that. Longest run-on sentence ever!

Comfort handles are imported. Ditching the 'USA' imprint from the tool, and printing it on the packaging instead, allows for the use of common parts across the comfort and fully polished ranges without violating FTC regulations.

Comfort Grip handles are imported?!

The handles, as opposed to the whole tool, are made in China for all markets. They were previously made in the US and Croatia. That's according to Snap-on UK, when they were trying to explain why they didn't have any in stock

It's purely supposition on my part that this may be why they don't use the USA stamp even on USA made hard parts, I ought to have written 'could allow'.

According to the "all" or "virtually all" FTC standard, it would be deceptive to label them "USA", especially if the internal parts are also imported.
