that does not seem like a bad deal to me
you have a large table to work with and 2 heads so you can have a couple of things going with it. and unlike many of them, that does not take up too much space.
if its in good shape and you could get it for $250 you would be in good shape

At the american tool auction they had a couple of mutlple station drills that went for next to nothing, I want to say they were 5 station and went for like $150 or so, I ask my plant manger if he remembers anything about them.

Those drill presses are called multigang drills. I have one at work with 5 heads, and height of the head is independently adjustable on each position, as well as speeds, on a two stage four step pulley setup. I also used one of the turret attachments for around 15 years. That one appears to be made by Quadrill Company. They are OK for their use, but hatefull bastards to keep running well with various operators to tear them up. The unit is pulled down, and when it returns to the top, an upward pressure allows the operator to rotate to the next position via a ratcheting manual pull handle. Each tool is set to the same working depth by altering tool length or depth of chucking, as the single down stop on the drill press is used for each position. I finally went to an Omniturn GT-75 CNC, and made special collets to spin parts off center to get the holes I needed to drill and tap. Tremendously faster and better quality. This drill unit would be OK for a home shop operation with one guy to take care of it properly, but one of the reasons I went away from it is that parts were getting a little scarce. Also see my link for a Burgmaster turret drill. I have one of those in my surplus machinery warehouse at work.

I would use that in a heartbeat. When ever I'm drilling out any large diameter hole, I start with a punch, then 1/4" and start moving up sizes till I get to my desired hole size. Imagine how easy it would be to have the first couple of sizes already set up automatically......reduces your set up times.....

I need to take my camera to work one day... We have a ton of multi head drill presses. Actually we have a lot of equipment that you guys would love to see. I also keep finding tools that are of some interest laying around now that I learned stuff from this site.

Be careful, some companies do not allow cameras to be used in their facilities.

Since it is three phase, providing you only have single phase you will need to either change the motor or build/buy a phase converter.

I dont have to worry about that. The Owners are never there, the CEO is a racing buddy, the COO is my fiance's father.....

Plus we have a lot of patents, you wouldnt learn anything from looking at our equipment.
