U4 is fan motor. Pulling the motor can get all the number off it might find it on the web. Wonder if the system is a little short of refrigerant or the outside unit is dirty. The coils in the outside unit are probably a two row coil and they get dirty between them and have to be split to clean the inner coil.

Another strike against Daikin, they need to keep their error codes the same between units! Unless you think there could be more than 1 meaning? U4 in my book says Communication Error

So right now the unit seems to be working as intended. Its 95 outside, office is cooled to 69 with the lowest fan setting, with the setpoint set to 71 (My temp gauge in the office always shows a bit lower than setpoint) and the bedroom is cooling to 75 without issue (I have no idea how cool it is actually)

Really weird, I hate stuff like this where it works fine sometimes but not other times

Question, in my picture with the codes it says about 2 short beeps being non-corresponding codes. Would you read that like the codes should be ignored? Or they are still there but not related to the main code?

If it is short of refrigerant, I guess there would have to be a leak? Maybe I should get a cheap gas detector and check around all the fittings and coild
I have a cheap electronic leak detector and it is iffy, gives false readings. Bought a $700 Superior AccuTrak VPE PRO and it worked well for me. $700 sounds like a lot but the smash and grab, gas and go companys would have cost me more! I had checked pressures and was positive I had a leak

Daiken has a service app for your phone. I had used it for some multi VRV systems for putting the systems in recovery mode. I went to Daiken school 6-2022 to become level 4 VRV trained. I had bought the $3000 service checker, but wound up hurting my back a month later and retired, never received the checker as it was shipped to the office.

Generally speaking, communication wires should not be wire nutted. It should be a whole wire from a to b. I'd check the install manual and see if it specifically states this. Then run a wire per the manual.

I tried to call Daikin and got the worst custom service in the world. They can't tell me ANYTHING unless I'm a licensed HVAC professional. They can't even confirm basic wiring or anything like that, and they had a big attitude. This will be the last product I'll ever purchase.

Just curious, what did you change with the wiring?

Did this fix the temp imbalance issue as well?

Too soon to tell on the temp imbalance, but I know its not fixed entirely as earlier I had the office set to 71 and it was religiously maintaining 73 no matter the fan level, and bedroom was set to 76. Turned the bedroom down to 74 and lowered the fan speed (So the air would need to be colder to get there) and then the office went to 71

How are you setting the temps? Directly with the remote or via an app?

Maybe the trick is to have some overlap - don't shut off the office completely at night, and drop the temp in the office in the morning while the bedroom is still cooling?

Directly with the remote

Yeah, so yesterday I set one to 70 and one to 76, and it took a while but it did actually figure itself out and one room really was 70, and the other was 76 and it stayed like that all day. I think the way I'm using them just isn't "correct"

And so it is "closed system" of HVAC contracting. I've got Daikins too. But I knew if I wanted customer support, I'd have to do the consumer deal, IE - Mr. Cool.

Thanks for letting us know how you're chasing this down, I have no idea how I'd sort out a comms issue on one of these and your're figuring it out.
