Christ, seems like your builder was wearing ear muffs. Between the outlets and the track height you mentioned they weren't very receptive to what the client actually wanted.

That's like 0.01% of the issues that I had... :willy_nil

Looking nice, Dubber! Keep up the great work!

I added 9 outlets to my double, which came with a whopping single outlet. Best decision I've made.

You have made great progress while your wife was away! I love how you give purpose to your garage while keeping it clean at the same time. I might steal your trackwall idea for my shed's storage.

Very nice of you, thanks man. Trying to make it the most efficient possible, while still being appealing to the eye (mine at least), while still able to fill its duty of being an actual double garage.

Last night was exciting; my electrician buddy came over and put in a few plugs. I'm extremely pleased with the results. I "could" always add more plugs in the future but for now this is just perfect. He even matched my other outlet covers :rocker: It was funny, he couldn't believe that i had only moved in a month ago. Not just based on the garage but since he was actually in the basement he said "I was surprised you don't have a bunch of boxes down there."

Before: @ 5pm

After: @ 8pm

Good luck with your electrician. One of those non-glamorous additions but damn can it make a difference.

I'm impressed you were able to get those outlets installed without your drywall needing to be ripped apart. Was it quite the process, or was it pretty easy?

Nice progress!

I'm trying!

:shocking:You can never have enough outlets.:shocking:

Very true. Next new build we do there will be much more attention paid to the planning at the framing stage.

To be completely honest i'm just as surprised as you. I totally thought i would have some major patching to do. In two hours he ran new plugs to the panel in the basement and an outside observer wouldn't have been able to tell he was even here. Couldn't be happier. Guess he is just pretty good. :)

Thanks Spencer, always nice to see you drop by. Guess you haven't left for your vacation cottage yet for a well deserved nap ;)

Steady progress has been fueled by our interest I think!!

Totally agree with this, fuel for the fire!

Another couple things off my list today. I had a few cracks and voids near the base of the wall on both sides of the garage door so i filled those today with some window filler stuff, the name escapes me. Next on the list was putting a frosted film on the window in the garage, i really wanted something on there that avoided the need for blinds. We also had a bathroom that really needed it as we always had to have the blinds closed in there for any kind of privacy. Having two 2'x4' windows in the bathroom was a little much. Could potentially channel my inner exhibitionist lol...

One window done.

Now to the garage!

Pretty happy with the results. Not hard but time consuming and definitely need an extra set of hands for the peeling and spraying phases. I also did a little splicing with some leftovers to allow me to return one of the boxes. This will finance another shop light i'm thinking :)

Loving the privacy this gives while still allowing tons of light to come in.

What is your take on the husky wall cabinets? I like the price but I'm stuck between new age and the husky. I like the build of gladiators but I dislike the overall look with the diamond plate.

Looks good. Better than those dust catcher blinds for sure.

Thanks, i completely agree!

Loved your single and your double is coming along nicely. I like your taste. Keep it up

Glad to hear you've enjoyed them, thx!

Honestly for the price, they are perfect. No doubt there are more solid pieces but these suit me perfectly. Function, quality, price and look all lead them to the front of the list. I've been fortunate to get every piece on sale. Home Depot seems to always have them on an in-store sale, in comparison to their website pricing.

Glad to see you upgraded your garage!!! very nice

Thanks you, it was definitely a positive experience. Luckily for me wifey was happy double garage options we had short-listed.

That's what i was going for, so thank you.

I really like the idea of the film on the windows. I personally really like natural light. It's a big deal for me, so the idea that you can keep prying eyes out, and at the same time still get plenty of natural light in your garage is GREAT. Very smart route you took there, and probably cheaper than blinds at that.

Thanks Kyle, I really felt it was the best option, and it really turned out better then i had anticipated, which is always nice. Some of the films are brutal. I felt like a putz at home depot standing in front of the display for what felt like 30 minutes mentally planning the dimensions to cover the three windows and plan which would look better.

Just like the single did, the new garage looks great dubber!

Love seeing people transition from the first thread to this one. Thanks man.

You're flying man - I can't believe you've done this in a couple weeks. Subscribed!

I was definitely inspired to not waste anytime getting it to a functional level and be proud to open up the garage door, thx!

I've been occupied on another front as of late. We have a small (8'x9') shed in the back and its been under attack by some animal/rodent that we have just been able to put a face to. Surprisingly Sunday afternoon this giant black Skunk went traipsing across our lawn and B-lined to our shed. The power in his digging strokes was frightening actually. I went out there and tried the noise approach as my first deterrence, no response.... Then grabbed a couple of my pups rubber toys and through them in his direction, one actually hit him, to my surprise all he did was look up at me, damn! Then i tried the intimidation move, well i flinched first it seemed. I walked towards him, he stopped digging and moved towards me, i turned around hahaha. I've been reading that they can shoot up to 10 feet and i was within that range. This morning we caught him again, luckily i was able to grab the hose and that worked real well :rocker:

We tried plugging the holes with dirt and gravel in the past and now with bigger rocks. The problem is it just pushed him to another location. The crazy thing is that his body is literally a foot wide and he was able to compact himself to small spaces approximately 4" wide under our fence and scurried to the neighbours.

I'm thinking i will circle the whole shed with patio stones as a way to eliminate any point of entry. The frustrating thing beyond the fact of having him in our place damaging the property, is that I'm worried for our dog that had been obsessed with those areas, now i know why. Also annoying that we don't have anything that should attract them, like garbage etc.

Here's a pic of our shed for reference. Its at the back corner of our lawn and has about a foot and a half around the back and side before the fence.

Oh man, I feel your pain on this one. It took me ages to get the squirrels from chewing their way into my garage. A skunk is a different story I suppose, and its hard to block off dirt. They will continue to move stones, sticks, etc unless you get drastic haha. Normally I would suggest live trapping and release, but that might not be a good plan with a skunk, for obvious reasons. I'd be tempted to either do the patio stones like you said, or pound 12" pieces of rebar into the ground every few inches (which is a lot of rebar).

Good luck on this, animals like squirrels, skunks, raccoons, and even birds can be a real nuisance. I know a lot of my rural farmer relatives in the O-Valley would just point their shotguns at them, but it seems residential areas frown on that ;)

Skunks are a pain. You could go with a bb gun and maybe cause it enough pain to not want to come back in your yard. A good pellet gun (Id go with a .22 but being in a neighborhood that wouldnt go over well) will kill it, but they spray after they die sometimes. A live trap is humane but they will spray while in the trap and during transport. Maybe look at some sort of sonic pest deterrent if you have electric in the shed, or chicken wire(but it will be ugly.)
