I haven't yet had a chance to really examine the photos of your space. I want to take some time to really soak in the "Before" prior to seeing what you make of your blank canvas.

Sorry Rick. Just couldn't bring myself to make that change.

My truck is outside and Leanne's suv is inside with my project car. When her suv is in the garage it will be -5 when it is colder outside and when I work in the garage i will pull her suv out to make room and heat the garage then. If you are leaving the daily driver in the garage and keeping it warm while you work then it maybe I could see a reason why a person would worry about too many wet and dry cycles with the salt on the vehicle... If I had a nice car and there was salt on the roads i would buy a beater but thats just me....

I just know that if you want to do a heater now is the time..... Having the option to work in the garage without gloves and a toque is nice right???

Very valid points. Although money wise i'm not in a position to tackle that with the new place and furnishing the whole new place lol.... Even if i had to patch up and repaint certain affected areas i would rather do that then put everything else on hold in case i may go that route.

No progress last night (in the garage that is) as wifey's treadmill arrived so i needed to put that together. I'm really not sure how those guys were able to get that box down to the basement? I swear its being sold with the house when we move. Then started tackling my basement theater room, soo many wires!

Hahaha, well I'm just starting out, pretty basic system thus far. Denon receiver, Cerwin Vega speakers, Apple TV, Wii and my new 60" Sony Bravia LED Smart TV just arrived the other day which i'm loving! Also grabbed a Sony Wifi Blue Ray player the other day.

I did however snap a pic of the treadmill when i was done with the assembly. The PO made this extra room in the basement and used it as a gym. We are definitely going to keep that going. My old Garage TV is getting re-purposed in there, helps me justify the need for a bigger one in the garage

Big time lurker here...love your original build. Mention of a basement theater certainly piqued my interest. Have you spent any time on avsforum?

Remember the number one rule of home theaters: "don't hang the projector until everything else in the room is 100% done". As soon as I hung a projector in my living room the motivation for completing the basement theater vanished. Watching 3D HDTV, sports, and movies on a 156" screen in my living room with a killer audio system not only warped my sense of reality, but practically eliminated all desire to finish the basement theater.

So here I am, drooling over amazing garage builds and planning my own attack instead of finishing the basement theater build.

Keep your eye on the ball.

Well I had a very productive weekend which revolved around the garage, driveway, shed and lawn. Perfect summer weather bliss.

Started by putting together the new lawn mower and did this...


Great feeling cutting it for the first time.

Decided it was now or never to attack that rack. Wow do i ever have a lot of screws now. Handy for next year's deck build i'm thinking


And the leftovers.




Only really annoying part was this.


Where the PO decided to bring in the cable from the satellite dish ended up being directly through one of the support beams for his rack. Soo stupid. Not sure what i'm going to do about this now.


Trimmed it for now at least. Even more annoying is that i'm with a different cable system that doesn't use a satellite. Now i have to get rid of that NASA equipment from my roof.


Then tested out my new layout.


Just missing another top cabinet and wall mounted TV to get the true perspective.

When all of that garage and lawn projects were done for the day I washed the cars for the first time in the new space. Sooo nice not to be cramped now while washing my cars, a real treat. This motivates me even more to get the garage set-up to make the experiences even more pleasurable.



While out shopping for random house stuff last week I found this all in one badminton kit, couldn't beat it for $25. A couple friends came by and we enjoyed the yard with some adult beverages included

Played a little more with the layout last night. I'm liking this little 'nook' beside the stairs for all of the garbage and recycling boxes. With a larger garage i was able to get a real garbage can and not the mini me can i had in my last space. For now i think this area will work fine, well until i need to use the space for something else

Trying to get a feel of where everything will go before i attack the wall repairs and paint.

It is indeed. Yes we are a corner irregular lot. Our driveway is about a double and a half and our neighbour (attached) has a single. Nice guy. This place is huge for us, just over double the square footage of our last place and in a great neighbourhood. It was one of my top two and wifey was pushing for this one. I'm happy she did as my 'honey-do list' involved a bunch more projects on the other place. The 8x9 shed out back is a saving grace for the garage. Not to mention all of the storage in the basement.

More chipping last night. Today is cardboard recycling day, which is normally uneventful but for me it meant this!



Sanded down all the imperfections on one wall tonight and did the first stage of hole patching. As you can see, they are numerous.

I can definitely see how it could get away from you. The two trucks are helping your cause hahaha. Luckily our shed saves all lawn and extras, along with basement storage. My family is also understanding in terms of nothing gets left in there and it isn't an extra storage space for peoples excess.

Pressure is on! I'm expecting more progress in the next couple of weeks for sure. Wifey leaves for two weeks on Sunday, and this will definitely be my focus. I'm likely going to buy a ladder in the next couple of days to allow me to get the 10 foot ceiling section much easier.
