Thank you for helping me decide on a new car! Those Jettas are awesome.

Thanks. The Jetta TDIs are flying out of dealers around here, there were only two left for a couple hundred miles. Diesel prices are cheaper in some parts of Texas than regular gas. Hopefully Diesel will stay cheap for a long time.
Dubber, seems I might have to thank you and a few others, as I might be having my Racedeck tiles shipped in a few weeks for my small space.
My question to you is without me going back and searching every post, what colors are the middle of your floor and the accent strip? Also do you have any pictures of near the garage door with the door closed?
Awesome news! Looks like you will be having a March Christmas at your place. I went with Black on the outside, Alloy border and then Graphite in the middle. Very happy with the choices.
I don't have the pic that your asking about but i'll snap one this weekend. Just for you! hahaha
yes i decided since I'm selling the Mazda that some of the funds received from that part out will go towards a few garage changes one being the floor. I mean its the least i can do after 10+ years of modding that car. Looks like we will have similar floors as i also choose those colors but in a different format.
Sold the Mazda? Wow! Looking forward to seeing how yours turns out. Any plans for a new fun car, or another daily to replace it?
already have 2 daily's at the house for the wife and I to drive. "sold" as in I'm taking all of the rare, hard to find and wanted pieces off and sending the rusty shell to the scrape yard. I've put 3 tanks of gas through the car since January of 2013 so its been a long time coming. As for the floor i just need to do a few final measurements and check a few things before i hit the pay now button.
Very sad what it came to.
As for the floor, make sure to triple measure, and calculate that you will leave 1/2" approx space around the perimeter. You will most likely need to cut tiles. I had to cut all tiles along the back and the right side of my garage.
Your garage will feel huge with only the two cars![]()
Time for another quick and dirty ghetto photoshop
I'm thinking about selling my Craftsman 2 drawer mobile cabinet and replace it with the Husky Base Cabinet which is part of the set i already have.

There are a few reasons as to why I'm thinking of changing it up. First is I'm sick of needing to wedge the front two wheels up so that the drawers don't slide open. Also i never need to move it around so castors aren't necessary. Third there is wasted space behind the unit as it isn't deep. Husky piece is 5 inches deeper. Fourth, it will match the other items. I also like the fact that is the same height but without the castors there is more actual storage room to put to use. And lastly i will only end up doing this if I can sell the Craftsman and make this cost me nothing out of pocket.

Thank you that was exactly the picture I was looking for. When I was quoted they quoted 16' of that transition piece for only the door but I was wondering if it was really needed just there or the full length of the garage or is it really needed at all as that edge is not that high to start with to drive over.
Guess it's time to go measure the garage carefully and finally make a decision on colors.
If i could make a suggestion i would say order the transition for the entire length of the garage door side. I would also say don't bother using all around the garage but that's your prerogative.
GLWS ....
edit: how many people have replied to your kijiji ad enquiring about your floor?

Sooooo…. are you washing the car inside the garage on the Race Deck surface? If so does the water, dirt, salt crud et al flow outside your garage door? And from your experience, how does the Race Deck hold up long term from the salt chemicals etc. Do you just give it a good hose off in the spring and does the color and finish clean up well?
Sorry for so many questions but I'm considering this floor treatment now and with the open cell tile design I'm wondering how it holds p and how easy to clean after a winter of abuse.
I figure you have a lot of experience now between your prior place and this one.
Dubber and I both have lots of experience with the FreeFlow design. We both experience a typically brutal Canadian winter, and I'm speaking for him as well when I say, the floor performs brilliantly in these types of applications. I put together a webpage to chronicle the work it takes to keep it ship shape. I doubt Dubber will mind me furnishing the link in his thread:

Sorry to hijack, Dub, but I just couldn't resist!

You'll love the myq!
Wow... I've always loved how a red car shines. I have a single and that myQ is very tempting lol

Hey dubber,
I'm pretty sure we live in the same neighbourhood... like around the corner from each other. And live in the same model house. I just noticed your project thread today, but remembered you've posted in mine before. Looks like I have my night cut out for me reading through your 48 pages!
Barry
Yup, I just went through your thread and I recognize you're place. I'm right around the corner off Kilbirnie. I noticed my brother, Ripcurl, has posted in this thread just recently as well (he has the black B6 S4). Small world indeed! I drive by your place almost daily and I've noticed your cars before (easy to spot heading south on Greenbank). We'll have to get together for some beer this summer!
Awesome garage btw! I love how clean it is. Mine has seen some abuse over the past 5 years and seeing yours makes me realize that I desperately need to give it a good scrub, and spend some more time on the finer points.
How are the temps in your garage lately? Do you think the insulation on the door has helped? I have been meaning to do mine almost exactly like yours forever. Maybe this summer..
I'm sure you'll see me around, if you haven't already. Lately I've been bombing around in this:

Awesome web site which basically answered all my questions. My winters would be very similar. I like the pretty simple wet mop to keep it clean until the thorough cleaning can happen.
Thanks.
Again thanks for the info on floor upkeep especially in winter. My weather is very similar here in SE Michigan and the typical salt usage on the roads, plus I live on a gravel road as well. But I don't see any real big hassle to spend a little time keeping to clean. The only adjustment that I really see is to modify my use of floor jacks, jack stands, etc that might damage the plastic tiles. But it still seems a small price to pay for the benefits.
Barry I have to thank your bro for making the connection. Your space helped me plan possibilities when we were considering this place as an option.
I have most certainly noticed your summer ride while breaking my neck to catch a glimpse. Love that thing!
Glad my project thread proved to be useful to you when planning your build. I must admit after reading through your thread, I somewhat regret not getting the free flow tiles, at least where the wife parks. The slush and salt sure makes a mess. I also get a build-up of ice under the tiles where the garage door comes down, because the melted snow/ice doesn't flow out of the garage easily. Your thread is inspiring me to think of ways to improve the garage in ways I never thought of before. I think this summer that will be my focus.
Thanks! I can't wait to get it out of storage and take it for a rip.
Reading through your threads (both single and double) we have very similar taste for VW vs Volvo. I love how you brought yourself out in the garage you have! I would look for any free/cheap input from you in my intro thread: http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?p=4668477#post4668477
Thanks,
Kevin
. Luckily the in-laws live close by so I sent my wife out to grab their Tribute to save the day.
Get out to the parking lot after my high and realize it doesn't fit in the car,. Luckily the in-laws live close by so I sent my wife out to grab their Tribute to save the day
