Because you can... Is there any better reason to do things?

Cars are looking good Dubber!

Thanks man. Thought it was a little luxury i should exploit.

Time to stretch those legs back out, cars looking fresh!

Agreed! Calling insurance today.

Your lucky its much easier for you to order through ECS being in the US. I need to order through a local rep to avoid the Brokerage and Duty fees.

Nice!! How many miles do you have on the Sunday driver? :)

It has 122,000 kms which a quick Google conversion gives me 75,800 miles. Not bad for an 11 year old car.

Hey Dubber, I was a big fan of your Single. I went away for a holiday 6 months ago and never really got back onto GJ until now, came back and now you've got this! Very impressed, not just at how nice it is, but how motivated and productive you are to achieve exactly what you want. Kudos to you.

Secondly, with the wheel hangers, what I did was find a 14 x 1.5 bolt, cut the end off with a hacksaw, rounded off the sharp edge and hey presto, wheel hanger. Am I missing something or is this all they are? Because mine was free lol.

Adam.

A special breed.

What distributer are you using to buy from ECS? I resort to delivering to a spot in Ogdensburg NY and pick it all up.

Call Gord at Advanced Autowerks. He will help you out!

Thanks man, that really means a lot. Getting this new space definitely sparked a ton of motivation and it was fun to share and document the process here. Such a warm reception with my Single garage made this a no-brainer.

It seems like what you have created does the same thing, so nice job.

I have been busy but i just caught up on your thread...

Nice work, its always nice to see your updates!

Keep trying to find small things to improve the space and enjoy it at the same time.

Dubber two questions. What are you using as a source for the TV?
What performance upgrades have you done to the GLI ( sorry if you've already answered either of these)

I had cable routed into the garage when i moved in actually. Just recently added a digital adapter and i'm good to go with a nice range of channels.

As for the GLI, I've done a few things to it thus far performance related with more planned (larger turbo/intercooler)

Carbonio Cold Air Intake, Bailey Diverter Valve, GIAC X+ chip, 42 Draft Designs 3" Downpipe, 42 Draft Designs 3" full exhaust, Forge Silicon Turbo Inlet Pipe, ECS Lightweight pulleys: Alternator, Crank and power steering, ECS Ultimate Dogbone mount, ST Coils, Neuspeed rear sway bar, Zimmerman rotors and Hawk ceramic pads. And then a ton of subtle aesthetic tweaks.

Very nice. Play with the N75 valve at all? I ran GIAC software on my GTI and changing that valve made a huge difference in boost delivery. You could feel it in the seat of your pants but watching the difference on a boost gauge was crazy.

Did another full shift this past Sunday out in the garage with a buddy. 10am to 9pm hahaha. Swapped front brakes, painted all calipers and gave it a thorough cleaning. It has few bumps and bruises from life as a daily driver but being a 2006 is not bad at all. Only real hiccup was the shop had provided him with the wrong front rotors. They gave us rotors for a base RSX and he has the Type S model, a noticeable difference. Luckily we were able to source a solid replacement nearby. The car had similar paint to my sister's Mini, a TON of gold fallout spots and a few rub marks. He was amazed we were able to get rid of all of them.

The garage was kind enough to host us for both Lunch and Dinner, and even caught the first part of the Sens game :)

Beautiful job, Dubber!

Did you use an air brush or paint brush on the calipers? Also, if this car was in the same shape as your sister's car, this buddy of yours should be forever greatful!

Best,

Ody.

Thanks Ody! My sister's reaction was well worth all of the work, said it felt/looked like a brand new car. The same can be said for my buddies car; he said although he likes to keep it clean, it hasn't looked that good since he first bought it.

As for the painting i like the old school brush approach. Works well for me.

Somehow i forgot to post an update lol... On Saturday I tackled cleaning out the built up mess under the tiles from driving my daily car in and out during the winter. I (not my wife) make sure to knock off built up snow from the car prior to bringing it in during the winter. This certainly helps to minimize the amount of muck that gets brought it but there will always be a bunch stuff in all of the crevices and then usually melts off over night.

Thought i would post up some pics during the cleaning to show those with RaceDeck FreeFlow or those curious about it. Granted the level of detail is nothing compared to Rick's.

I've taken out single tiles in the past, along with smaller sections. This time as an experiment i did the entire width of the vehicle that parks in that spot.

Worked out better than i had thought. The top of the floor was already clean and dry. Once i removed the tiles there was a hard crust of dirt/salt and whatever else hahaha. Gave it a good push broom cleaning to start, then hosed it down. Then hit it with a good spray of Simple Green (love that smell). Then another session with the push broom and hose. Having decided to seal the floor prior to installing RaceDeck I think helped create a barrier and allow the muck to be swept away.

Having a car parked on the other half of the garage during the winter helped to contain the mess to a specific area which as you would assume minimized my task of cleaning up.

Cool post dubber.. but I did have one question.. Wouldn't having a car in the other bay of the garage increase the chances you'd get it dirty while cleaning the floor in the spare bay? :)

Fresh floor to start the summer. Your place came a long way in such a short time, it's always nice to follow you Dub!

Thank you sir, I'm excited to enjoy my first full summer here.

Hey Kyle, sorry I guess i didn't express myself succinctly. What i had intended to express was having a car parked on one side of the garage permanently during the winter (not while cleaning) meant that the mess was limited to one specific spot and not all over the garage. Make sense?

I truly appreciate you taking the time to check out the entire thread. Its been a rewarding journey with time well spent with friends and family in there thus far. I'm continually trying to improve it, use it or add to it!

This week actually my brother in law (who doesn't yet have his own garage) needed a place to work on his car while i was at work. He was able to tackle his project and really enjoyed the experience from what he told me. When i showed up to help he had the tunes pumping and TV on in the background. He has a Saab 9-3 with a bum window. After some searching we figured out it was the window actuator which is pretty common. Watched a couple how to videos on the laptop in the garage and it was game on!

That sounds like such a pleasant way to wrench. I need to upgrade my space so I can enjoy being in the garage instead of dreading the experience.

Agreed! :beer:Having the space organized makes it a much more enjoyable experience. Projects out there really excite me now.

Ditto! Having an organized workspace makes all the difference. I was wondering if you had sealed your floor first. That's 100%, IMHO, necessary when the concrete is seeing salt, with repeated wetting. Your floor cleaned up very nicely.

Glad to catch up on all your progress today. The GLI Looks great!

Seeing your floor again makes me wonder if thats not the route I want to take. I'm just afraid of it being noisy to walk on as I do use my lift a fair amount. How's the noise level?

Also, I thought you might like to know I was a bit silly and got the new mk7 R. :)

Although you typed out "a bit silly" I think what you meant to say was that you made an entirely rational, educated and gut influenced decision. I'm now headed to your thread to see some pics! Congrats.

As to your noise level question, this is something i've never really fully understood. :dunno: It is a "floating floor" and will have a sound when your walking on it, but then again every flooring surface save a carpet will have some sort of a sound. It really comes down to personal preference I guess this flooring application is best suited to my needs and wants.

Okay, now i'm headed to your thread hahaha

Although these pics aren't at my garage they were still at a garage so i thought they may be of interest. A buddy of mine has a pretty sweet set-up, very large three car, high lift doors, extra wide openings and liftmasters on each door and several windows and lights. The purpose of the visit though was to check out his dads new ride that he was car sitting. OMG! Brand new McLaren 650S. Truly unbelievable, full carbon package and full Alcantara interior including headliner. Not only does it look exceptional from every angle but boy does it haul ***! It picks up so quick and just keeps motoring on like a freight train. Then those Carbon Ceramic brakes kick in and bring you back in no time...... and no brake dust.... what a dream lol...
