What are you swapping the GLI for?

Wow dubber, that's big news! Are you going to tell us, or will it be a surprise?

Nice pano, I wish I had thought to do a 'before' like that in my garage before I started.

Woah, you are actually selling the GLI?

Such a clean garage... I really love your setup and I can't wait to see the new toy!

Waiting in anticipation!

I couldn't stand the sight of that Jetta since Day !! LOL

Very pumped to see the new addition. You better not disappoint!

Looking good! And I'm also looking forward to your future pics with the change that's coming.

Finally upgrading to a B5 S4 huh?

Upgrade? Hardly. :p

Hopefully its something a little more rwd but still german. Like maybe a BMW or something.

Haha, major upgrade for sure. :bounce:

Yea it was a sad day last week when i delivered the GLI to its new owner. It will be well taken care of which made the process much easier. I had posted a "feeler" ad to test the waters and within two weeks it was sold for the price i wanted. Funny that at almost 5 years that was the longest i've ever owned a car and i've had 11 thus far. This one was likely the hardest as it was put on a pedestal during my ownership.

I've put money down on another car recently and if all goes well it should be in my garage shortly. I'll have to keep everyone in suspense for a few more days as I don't officially own it yet. Hope the wait is worthwhile for some of you; I know it will be for me

I wish i was in a position to keep all of the cars that I've loved over the years but i must use the proceeds of one to put towards another that I will obsess over. Only tip I'm offering at this point is that I will be staying in the family, :lol_hitti

MKIV R32 in Silverstone?! I only have a lowly 2004 VR6 GTI in Silverstone. Like you I am about ready to sell it on to someone else.

If I sell mine it will be for a BMW E34 wagon.

I feel your pain. I owned my Monte Carlo for almost 10 years. It was nothing special to most, but I worked my 18 year old **** off to get that car. Took this shot of the new owner driving it away out of my driveway :(

The shop is looking great and it's nice to see another guy as OCD about their shop as me. Lol. Btw, it will never be done because it's like a mod bug, there's always something. ;)

Question about your race deck, do you have a drain in your floor? I don't have one so i just squeegee out the door. I'm kinda worried that come winter time mine will be a mess. :/

Its officially home! Left to go pick it up Friday evening and got back home Saturday night. Spent the rest of the weekend getting it settled in to the new accomodations; cleaning, tweaking and even dropped by a car show Sunday afternoon.

As i said before i really enjoyed the guessing game this had created. When i initially started this process i had been wanting to get the new S3 as its such a well priced package. Only problem after a few days was deciding if i wanted to absorb another car payment. Turned out i didn't lol.... During the period i also considered a new R which is basically the same car as the S3, but you get to keep an extra $10 grand for your pocket. Started to also look at and test drive a couple 2013 R's. Finally had to make a concession with myself, for the amount of time i want to be driving this car I should be getting something i can have paid off right away. I scoured all used car listings in the country and found this thing.

A little background on this, these were never delivered to Canada, but the US was able to get 5000 of them. There are now about a dozen or so that have been imported by Canadians wanting to also own this beast for themselves.

Its a 2004 VW R32, which for non-VW people is a 3.2 lt V6 with AWD stuffed in the body of a GOLF. Although its the same year and make of the GLI, it drives completely different. To say the least I'm over the moon.

And now a few pics for clicks.

R32, perhaps one of the best factory "Q-ships" out there. I love the fact that aside from the rear badge and dual exhaust there are few outward cues of how capable this package is. One of my friends locally has a mod'd R32 which, quite frankly, is scary fast.

Are you planning on winter driving, or storing?

Congrats dubber, nice pick up. That's got to be a blast to drive around.

AND it gives you a little more floorspace to work with in the garage too.

Nice upgrade for sure. How is the handling compared to the GLI? I bet it handles stiff and like a gocart?

Next time you can get the S3 :)

Sorry for the delay, i had missed your question. I don't have a drain in my garage, although i would love one hahaha. The garage is pitched down towards the exit so water flows out of the garage. Winter is fine, snow melts through the tiles and then out the door. I just mop the surface once and a while. Then in the spring, because i'm a little **** (OCD) i pull up the tiles under where the winter car parks and give it a thorough cleaning.

I approve.

Judging by your user name that makes sense :)

Its no BMW but I guess its cool..

Seriously, those are a ton of fun and you will love it.

Already its like being a kid again.

Congrats!

Nice! Glad it's nothing silly like a "VW" *cough dodge cough* Routan.

hahaha

Nice upgrade!

Agreed!

Congrats! That should be a little rocket and very fun on the twisties. Big motor stuffed into that little engine compartment.

Its truly unreal. Blew away my expectations.

Congrats again!!! R32 looks right at home in that garage!!

Thanks Again man.

I would love to winter drive it, with a huge asterix present. Fresh powder is always instantly ruined by our salt trucks making this not an option i want to explore. This will just be a replacement for my 'Sunday Driver'.

Congrats dubber, nice pick up. That's got to be a blast to drive around.

Good catch. This saves me 7.5", which is huge in a modest sized garage.

It handles like a dream. And i don't even have coils in it yet. I'm also thinking the S3 might be a next car.

dubber,
The R32 is a nice addition to the garage!

Thanks man.

I love the shifter in the 1st gen R32... such a great car! I just wish it were 500lb lighter!

Its exactly the same minus different logos from my GLI. I also love it. The R32 does come with shorter throws which i had forgotten about until pulling it out for the first time. Luckily i'm not too heavy so that helps :lol_hitti

Looks good in that spot. Congrats!

I'm disappointed that you didn't get the S3, probably cause I'm just a little bit biased lol. Congrats on the purchase! Those cars are wicked quick. And I don't blame you on not wanting another car payment. Looking forward to seeing more pics!

Nice addition.

How do you like the VR6? I had heard that the VR6 is not as dependable as the 1.8 turbo, but very tempted to get a VW with one anyway.
