My attached garage is very similar in size to your current garage, I am going to be using it for inspiration when I tackle renovating it this summer.

It used to be my "race shop" but now its going to be transformed into my wife's daily driver garage / loading dock for kids.

Really nice of you to say Markito. Hope to spend a little more time in there in the coming months as we are finally starting Spring temperatures around here. My sister's car is booked in for a tire swap this week. And i'll finally have an opportunity to test fit the new wheels for my GLI, very excited!

Burned a vaca day and enjoyed one of our first true Spring days. Spent all day in the garage and driveway.

Had to test fit some new wheels for the GLI. Washed the TDI and then did a tire swap for my sister.

You Vdub guys are something else. I personally threw-up in my mouth when I saw those rims.

btw, way to keep the single clean over the winter. usually is catch-all for **** over the frozen season.

Sharp looking wheels! They suit the car well. Btw, how does it ride with the low profile tires?

Thank you sir. They are good. This set-up, including car isn't for a daily driver so its stiffer than normal but that's based on several things. I have 225's on these which gives a nice, very subtle/mild stretch on the 8.5" wide wheels. I have the same tire profile on my BBS wheels which are only 7.5" so there is a little more cushion.

Spent another fun day in the garage tackling a project i've been putting off.

Sadly it took almost all day but i finally have the OEM euro door rub-strips installed. What a pain in the **** to get all of the sticky residue off. My hands are covered in blisters now lol... I had previously done the front bumper and then the rear bumper last weekend.

During:

After:

Love to finally have all the pieces installed and no more plasti dip ;) I'll have some overall pics up in a few weeks once the car is actually out of the garage driving :)

dubber, the new door trim pieces look great! Good job. And of course the garage looks great in the background. ;)

Thanks guys. My in-laws stopped by yesterday while i was in there. They both came in and hung out for a bit. They were joking why i even needed the rest of the house as everything i needed was in there lol...

@JohnnyMac--it is a shortened wheelbase Quattro Sport, they all looked a little "off" as they took the length out between the A and C pillars giving them very odd proportions, especially with the huge front overhang.

This weekend I had a neighbour approach me about helping him prep his car for sale. This was my first non-family detailing and it went really well. Had a great time doing it and he was very happy with the results. Also helped that its such a small car! I was in a rush to leave at the end so i wasn't able to take some quality pictures. Just snagged this cell pic 3/4 through the process.

Snapped a few Easter pics of my own ride yesterday afternoon. So great to get out and drive it finally. For the record this was the first weekend i was able to actually drive it. Bliss!

Almost forgot about my other weekend project. Pulled up half of the Race Deck Free Flow tiles to do a thorough cleaning underneath. This was my first time attempting it since i put the floor in a year and a half ago. Super simple procedure. Pick a line, use a paint scrapper, unbuckle the tiles one at a time along your line. Then just pull it out or over lap onto the other side. This definitely isn't required often but with the Free Flow tiles you do get some gravel that has fallen through. A quick shop vac gets most of the items but there are still stubborn items that stay until a thorough cleaning.

Not much debris at all considering this is the path i walk into the garage every day in the winter included.

This method worked great for me.

Just use a paint scraper. Insert between a coupling and angle it to one side. You will find out which direction works. This will release the connection with next to no effort. Then just do this at each connection. You easily get into a rhythm and it doesn't take much time. I think it took 5 minutes max to undo and move the section over.

GLI is looking good! I really like the factory strips with the chrome that picks up all the other polished bits on the car, but the flat ones look pretty clean too. I don't know what method you used, but in the future this may save you some blisters when removing alot of body adhesive.

Its pretty much a giant eraser wheel that hooks into a drill. eats the adhesive right off

Thanks! I've been subtly changing the outside looks while still retaining the overall theme. I just not a fan of chrome so changing to black really worked for my plan. Along with the rubstrips i had previously changed the mirrors to the black ones from a 20th GTI and then the Grill as well.

Wish i would have put out some feelers prior for some info. A friend also suggested a Carmel wheel? Both look like great options for the future. I had used a heat gun and goo gone along with friction
