Any news on dubbers double? Hoping it works out well for you & the other half.

No news yet unfortunately. Our immediate market is saturated right now which is tough, but we are confident ours is the best one offered. As of this point our top two options are still available. Fingers are crossed!

I'm still in new garage limbo mode, so in the meantime i'm enjoying cleaning the car in my current space and attending some local shows. These were taken at Ottawa's first 'Cars and Coffee' event this past weekend.

We always enjoy our local C&C. First Saturday of the month.

Your car looks Great!

Ody.

Thanks Ody. I've always fondly enjoyed pics from the Cars and Coffee events south of the border. Just a great chance to gather and chat with some fellow enthusiasts no matter which brand of vehicle they show up in.

Damn your car looks nice!! Such a great job you have done keeping it so nice. Any new news on the new house/garage? :)

Nada to report unfortunately, but thanks.

Good luck on the new home. Both garages look about the same with the single door looking like alittle more room on the side but the double door one looks really clean and a blank canvas. There's no clear winner so I would pick best house.

Have a good one, Gerard

I agree completely, so we shall see how it plays out but at this point i would be uber happy with either.

Thought i would share this with the group as its on topic.

During my new home search i often do a google street view of the address of the listing just to get a true sense of what it looks like and the surrounding area. The pics below are of a place that i had found and was initially pretty excited. It met all of our criteria for the inside and the garage looked to be a very wide double. Well after the google street view (second picture) and a quick drive by i quickly realized the posted picture wasn't very accurate. There were some colour changes singe the Google picture but no 6 foot garage extension.

Wow. Some people.
When we were looking for a place we came across a few properties that had double garage in their listing. When we went to have a look at them it turned out that it was an oversized single, with a single door. And there was no way two cars could park there.

I've also run into that. Several saying double garages that are maybe three feet wider then my single. These "mistakes" just waste the time of both parties involved.

I have run into that a few times while looking for a property recently, not the garage but the inside pics overall and the whole outside pic of the house. They are using panoramic shots.... Not good.

Idk if a trend but thought I would share. Im in a lot of new developments from day to day for work. The garages on these new houses are small. Like 18 x18 maybe 20 x 18 if lucky. Some are 3 with a 2 car and extra space if front. Its a cool setup.

You might know this but ill mention it. You can guess size of garage just by looking at it. A typical garage door is 16' wide so by looking space on each side of door you can have a good idea of garage size without having to go see it.

That's exactly what we did when we were looking for our house. We were able to eliminate a lot of listings, just from looking on street view and Google earth. As soon as we saw the one we ended up buying on Google street view, we new it was a strong candidate. The street view looked better than the actual, because the street view was taken in summer. We put an offer in the day we saw it.

You'll probably do the same dubber...as soon as you see it, you'll know it's the one. The key is to keep looking so that you know value when you see it. (ours was under priced, and we knew it right away because we had been looking for a couple of months.)

The old pano shot gets me every time hahaha. Luckily the photographer we dealt with wasn't interested in doing that.

Its true they seem to creatively make them smaller and smaller. I've seen some "doubles" as thin as 17'.

I've also seen a couple local builders build a double but a large wedge is taken from one of the back corners that would make parking anything but a Smart car impossible.

Its definitely a great trick which i too have used to immediately eliminate possibilities as a result of that vantage point. The seasonal thing is also true, great to see the possible changes in the foliage around the property.

Nice Cars & Coffee pics. Is that the new one at CTC?

If you happen to be at this Saturday's C&C, I'll try to pop by; looks like fun. I'll be just around the corner (lot 4/5) doing autocross with MCO, if you want to check out lots of fun cars as well. I'd love to meet you and say hi, as your garage thread has been a big inspiration for mine, which is currently in progress!

Thanks dude, yea that was from the first event in Ottawa at the CTC. Very happy that ottawa finally got one of these events. I won't be able to make the next couple as I'm off to Germany today for a few weeks. I'll be back in action in July though. Come say hi if you see my car. I'll be with a crew of vw's.

Any updates on this / dubbers double?

Well "Fingers crossed" we have made some progress on the realization of "dubber's double" :) It was strange nothing sold in our area at the start of the regular home sale season, up until a couple weeks ago. Two of our comps just sold, one rented and we are thankfully in a conditional sale right now. We are also in a conditional sale of the new place with possession mid next month. I do the inspection on Sunday. One good thing about this not happening sooner is that we were in Europe for three weeks and this back and forth would have been a major pain.

Here are some pics of the garage from last Sunday.

Here are some pics of the exact same garage layout from a house in the same neighbourhood that we looked at but this one was completely untouched.

Well, this is a major event in the garage world! I hope your sale goes well, and can't wait to see you get stuck into your new project! That decision to go with RaceDeck is sure paying dividends now. (portability)

hahaha, don't know about that but thanks. Its cool actually i think the garage helped to solidify the purchase. They originally wanted the garage as is but after some back and forth and a significant increase in their offer, the floor will be staying. Definitely nice to have that extra leverage.
