Picked up a new Husky 35" Professional Tool chest. Love how it swallows tons of tools and the quality is top notch. I had wanted a semi-useable surface for quick projects and it to have high castors to slide my jack underneath. This definitely ticked off a few boxes and the sale helped.

Then moved my newer Stanley down to replace a red smaller tool chest i had there.

Funny enough I sold it after the next day and actually made a great return after owning it for 3 years; bought it used for $25 and sold it for $80. I love those deals.

Did a little more organization with some new bins and a little more trim painting.

Haha..... Newman! Not complete as of yet, slowly chipping away at the whole project and thus far I've only painted 1 of my three ceiling portions. Getting there though.. Other two parts require some more drywall/mud fixes.

So i had been dead set on putting an epoxy down on the floor this spring but now I'm having second thoughts. I just submitted a quote to RaceDeck to see what I would be looking at for a price.

Apoxy and RD both have their benefits and drawbacks. I just love the endless design potential a RD floor has. Apoxy is great, don't get me wrong, but opening the garage door and seeing a colourful RD floor makes me happy!

At first i was against the Race Deck since i will be using it for a winter car storage for half the year and we get nasty stuff here with all the salt. But i think if i clean and seal the cement floor then install the Race Deck, doing some surface cleaning throughout the season and two thorough cleans beginning and ending of the winter season which will include pulling it all out and cleaning the floor i should be good that way. The Free-Flow design appeals to me.

I just submitted the quote so i'm looking forward to seeing what this could turn into.

Rick I've got a few of questions for you since you have the set-up I'm looking at.
1. How visible is the actual flooring through the tiles?
2. Do you get that clicking sound when your walking on them as I've heard others do?
3. How easy is it to remove portions of the flooring by un-clicking some tiles?

All good questions:

Rick I've got a few of questions for you since you have the set-up I'm looking at.
1. How visible is the actual flooring through the tiles?
The diagonal pattern of the Free Flow tiles does an amazing job of obscuring the view of the floor unless you stare directly down. Take a look at the pics in my thread to see what I mean. My floor underneath is quite dirty, but you would never know it!
2. Do you get that clicking sound when your walking on them as I've heard others do?
Only if you disturb the debris once it falls through the cracks. The clicking only occurs if you let the debris get under the footings on the tile. If you let the debris fall and it stays stationary, you shouldn't get "cracking". It's going to depend how diligent you are with maintenance.
3. How easy is it to remove portions of the flooring by un-clicking some tiles?
Easy. Expect some knuckle scrapes until you get the hang of it.

Just a quick follow up to this question:

If you look carefully at this photo, you will see the footprint of the tile. Only when debris gets in there, will you hear a clicking sound. So, if the tile is lifted, and the debris disturbed, then that will occur. Keep **** from accumulating under that footprint, and the floor is virtually silent.

@ Rick thanks for the all the information. I'm sure I'll have some follow-ups but you have definitely helped tremendously thus far.

So here are my two ideas at the moment. Not sure if i want to match the blue to some existing things within the garage or the red to accents on my GLI.

Attacked the ceiling last night, man oh man, that is definitely not fun. Frustrating as i ran out of paint and had to run out to Home Depot, second time i was there yesterday! Also started working on painting my door way trim black, should be able to finish that tonight with the second coat. I'm going to try and paint a vertical section of my ceiling between two levels of the bulk head in black, i think it will work well in conjunction with other black accents against the white.

I'll have some pics up of that after shots likely tomorrow or Saturday.

Still on the fence regarding what colour i would chose for the race deck, if i end up going that route....

Did some more painting last night, here's a couple in progress pics.

One of the door trim after the first coat of black. Did the second after and i'll be pulling the tape off tonight. Fingers are crossed!

This piece was a pain as it was in a horrible state. Painted it black last night after and i'll be pulling the tape tonight. We shall see how it turned out.

Doorway black trim is also now complete and i love the result. Also picked up matching black bins from Canadian Tire, killer price at $4.50 each! Also attempted to fix up the cords a bit on the ceiling, although i can't "hide" them all it looks better i think.

Well done Dubber. I have done a lot of the similar jobs in my garage. I find the little touches to be quite satisfying. Keep it up!

Thanks Rick. Yes its true the small ones are fun for sure. I'm pumped to get the Race deck Free Flow Sample, likely this week. Looks like its my garage's destiny. It was funny i got a quote from another flooring company called SwissTrax which i take it to be a competitor of Race Deck flooring. Anyhow their quote was more then double, pretty insane. Also funny to note that if you type in www.racedeck.ca it brings you automatically to Swiss Trax, i guess they bought that domain.

Now that most of the blue is out of the garage i can really justify the red accent on the floor.

I also just ordered a new poster sized image of a photo shoot a buddy did on my GLI last summer. Posterjack.ca is a great site that I've used a couple of times already with excellent results. They always seem to have promotional discounts of about 20% which make it worthwhile.

I'm obviously partial to the Free Flow. I think it is going to take your space to the next level. I don't know what to think of SwissTrax. It seemed like a RaceDeck copy, but it is carried by many garage stores in town. I found it expensive also. I am going to check posterjack.ca out. I'm contemplating ordering a couple of vintage Audi posters and having them framed. But, the idea of having an actual photo enlarged is also appealing.

Yea i really recommend them. I've had this image done, and its in my Office at work, and then the roller shot in the garage was also done by them. If you go to their site now the 20% coupon code is on the top of their home page.

I'm getting this pic developed by them right now. It was the homepage from a VW sponsored Forum I'm on, OVD.

I've got this "vintage" Audi poster that i had mounted several years ago when i had an A4. I have it hanging in my house downstairs.

Switched up a little storage. I was wasting some solid space a little higher so this clears up some space when getting around the car.

After:

Switched the hooks around but i think i'm going to move the ski rack some place else or higher at least.

EDIT: Yup couldn't resist. Had to move those hooks. I'm either going to get another large picture to hang there or possibly mount my golf bag (which is stuffed in my GLI trunk for hibernation). Golf bag would look good there as its a white Addidas Bag with German flag colouring :)

The ski rack worked better on the other side along with the other roof accessories.

I've been hunting for a while now for a nice overhead cord reel. Originally i had wanted black but I've got enough of an eyesore above contrasting with my low white ceiling. I was very happy to find this one; perfectly matches my two lights that i had added.

I like the cord reel. Where did you find that? Ive thought about adding some diamond plate touches here and there but, damn that stuff is pricey. I just about bought a diamond plate tool box that goes behind the cab of a pick-up truck off craigslist. My idea was to cut it up and try covering my freezer with them.

Thanks guys, i appreciate all the comments. BUT i do blame everyone here who are encouraging my new obsession haha.. Just kidding. I guess i really needed an off season project.

@ HAY You, its an old military hanger near my place within the Ottawa Airport compound.

@Derrickwade i found the reel on Ebay. Its pretty heavy duty for sure. Its made by Tasco.

I'm currently waiting between coats. I'm painting the other fascia of the bulkhead in black. I'm liking it.... I'll post some pics when its finito.

Dubber, you need to get out on the runway for a picture. Car on an angle like in the one above, 6000 feet of runway off in the distance,,,,, be a nice shot.

Trust me i would be down for that. Every time i see an episode of Top Gear when their ripping around an airfield i get excited. As close as i could get with my ride unfortunately.
