I'm still working on on patching a couple draft issues, but beyond the floor i feel i'm pretty close to being done. Going to put up a few decals and beyond that its wrapping up i'm thinking currently at least.

EDIT: I just re-read this and I'm not sure what I was thinking when i said that haha. In all reality this will be an on-going, continuously evolving space to be completely honest. Constant subtle tweaks to improve and add efficiencies while maintaining a cohesive look is my aim.

Nice the R is a **** beast for sure. Out of my current toy budget range though. Luckily wifey likes them so the next one if it comes in DSG (so she can drive) that would be an amazing daily.

Haha, sorry wasn't intentional, nor is it a big addition, but one that i have been sitting on for a few weeks until i had the garage to a certain point. Funny enough i had been thinking to put it somewhere a little more discreet but my wife picked the same spot (where i had actually really wanted to put it). The colour scheme and simplicity of it fit with the overall look of my new space.

Love it! Reminds me of the guy I used to compete with who put the Yorkie bar logo and slogan on his racing car (do you have those bars out there and know what I'm talking about?). Yours is more subtle though, but I like it even more for that.

Thanks dude, unfortunately the reference is lost on me. This in the US?

You are very much like me, in that the little things end up mattering a lot! I see that as a good thing...

Thanks Rick. I concur, as they say, great minds....

So now I'm toying with the idea of adding a small tv and if this is just ridiculous or not. Basically i was just having a discussion with my wife and we were talking about replacing our tv in the bedroom which is a nice little white 19" lcd tv. Instead of selling it as i frequently do i'm mentally planning the logistics of this possible addition. Couldn't imagine anything better then watching TV in the comfort of my RECARO seat! :D

Looks cool beyond the wrong period wheels.Wonder if he missed the jack point and it rusted through.

EDIT: I guess the previous post was removed. Which makes mine seem odd, lol..

No, I'm in the UK. It started off that they said that it was such a big bar of chocolate that it was what truckers would eat. Then a few years later they came up with a new advertising campaign along that theme with the slogan and logo:

yorkie.jpg

Like I said, yours is a good bit more subtle than that!

Thanks, my wife said I'm obsessed lol... When i get something in my head it bothers me until i try it out.

I have the same issue! When I get an idea in my head or get to thinking about something in the garage I just can't let it go.

My wife also told me the other day that I have a 'problem'

Ha Ha. I already get funny comments for spending too much time detailing my car. If i added a TV In there, that would be really asking for it.

No, why not, especially if you have one going 'spare'. The TV was one of the first things I put in to keep me amused whilst I was painting all that blockwork, which took me weeks! I find that even now there are things that I don't want to miss, like the F1 Grand Prix for example, but that I don't want to 'waste' two or three hours just sitting on the sofa watching so I often go out to the garage and have it on in the 'background' whilst I get on with some useful job at the same time. You can also use it for some music in there in place of a hi-fi if you just put it onto the MTV channel or whatever!

Mine actually suggested it at one point, imagine that. I guess that solidifies why i popped the question to her haha.

Don't knock it 'til you try it!

That's what i figure. Just mentally planning if the logistics can work out without too much headache.

Very true. Especially times when i really want to get something done in there i really can't "relax" on the couch as its on my mind. Best of both worlds. Well i'll see if this idea comes to fruition.....

Speaking about that, these arrived in the mail yesterday.:rocker:

I'm planning to do this layout. Unfortunately by the time i was all set to make the order last night i missed their business hours.

Well done with your space! You've really done a nice job cleaning things up and making the most of modest space. Will be watching to see how the RaceDeck looks once it's down. I'm really thinking about doing that for the Droobarn.

I love the racedeck but I have 2 problems with it. Maybe I'm just misinformed.

1. Cost. From the little research that I've done, it looks to be VERY expensive (or maybe I'm just cheap)

2. What happens when you spill fluids on it? Doesn't it fall into the spaces in the racedeck and get trapped between the racedeck and the floor? In other words, how do you clean up fluid spills?

Well i haven't yet received the tiles at this point, although they are now officially ORDERED!

I think others my chime in on your questions. But as for cost it works out to around $3 per square foot. There are a few variables based on specs etc, but i would email them or call and mention that you are a Garage Journal member which gives you a discount.

As for the fluid spills apparently the tiles are easy to pop out, although i haven't obviously done that at this point. It would for sure flow through the tiles as they are very permeable. Basically water flows through, and then down out your garage ideally. Little debris like dirt and pebbles will fall through and you can either pressure wash it out of the garage, or wait until it dries and vaccuum through. I assume i'll be doing a combination of those two a few times a year.

I see. My garage is 30x28 so I'm looking at around $2000 for flooring. I'd rather lay epoxy at that point.

My worry would be that viscous fluids (oil) would be a real PITA to clean up if tiles have to be removed everytime oil is spilled, and I spill a lot of fluids with the types of things I work on.

Your garage will look great though. I love the look of the racedeck. Its just out of my league I guess.

Yes that makes sense. My garage would be over a 50% discount to your price. That is THE perk of having a small space.

I understand your concern with those tiles. I don't want to clutter dubber's thread by posting pictures of my floor into it but if you look in my build thread you will see some close-ups of the Ecotile UPVC tiles that someone asked me to post (the pic is on page 2 I think, to save you having to search through it all). These are a solid tile with a concealed interlocking join. I can tell you that I have spilt a lot of oil, petrol, paint, water, coolant, etc. over them and it is a doddle to just wipe up. It doesn't even leave any staining afterwards, so is actually easier to maintain than a concrete floor would be. You might want to consider something like that instead if you want to make it ease spills? I'm not sure if they have a distributor for it in the US but if not I'm sure someone out there would make something similar you could consider?

Boy, that floor is going to look great. I've been thinking about doing RaceDeck in my little space, so I'm watching your thread closely. Cost really isn't too bad for our smaller spaces.

I am probably anticipating the arrival of the RD floor just as much as YOU! It's going to set that place off like no one's business. Plus, you will love the practicality of it. Walking in your garage in your socks...SOCKS!

Socks in garages? In Canada. Blasphemy.
55, okay, I know there's snow in Calgary, and I "want" to believe, but am sceptical of the race deck containing "prairie slop". Does the snow muck stay in the grooves reasonably well until you get a chance to clean it? I just can't get my heard wrapped around this when it comes to the "Prairie slop."
