Thought i would share some pics, since others have also done some of peripheral, non-garage projects. Here is some pics of the result of my upstairs flooring experience. I'm by no means (literally) an expert but I did it all and i think it turned out well.

Wow..the wood flooring looks great! Nice job.

Also, your garage looks fantastic as well. You get the OCD approval stamp but it's one of the nicest one car's I've seen. The garage floor does looks great btw!

dubber, good job on the flooring!! Looks like you got your ducks in a row on it. Is it nail down or glue down? I really like the "mid century moderne" appeal to your place. I could cut some heavy duty zzzzzzz's on that comfy looking sofa!!!!!! Here is something that happened to me: I had just laid the kitchen using Bruce Hardwood engineered flooring and we went for a week trip. A leak at the dishwasher fill spout sprang and when we got back the floor had changed color near the sink and dishwasher. I had to pull up all that flooring and dry the subfloor, and install new. It did not "do well" getting wet.
Looks fantastic!!! Great Job.

Thank you sir. But that exact situation scares me big time. We had a leak similar when we first moved in, carpet at the time. I'll be attempting to tile the kitchen as my next project, whenever i pump myself up enough to tackle it.

And to answer your question its nailed (blind staple mostly).

Yeah floor looks great Dubber. I had laid down a floating faux wood floor in my basement and 2 weeks later experienced a flood from melting snow (1"-2" or less) and the entire floor was ruined. Ripped it out in disgust and put in a tile floor and a second french drain.

Tiles are a much better idea in a kitchen or bathroom or anywhere that may see moisture. Great job Dubber! Floor looks excellent!

Awesome, always nice to receive a confirmation for something I'm planning, especially when i'm very green behind the ears :)

OMG, i would be livid. I did laminate (floating floor) downstairs in our place last year.

Here is the system I use on engineered flooring. It is an air stapler using various sized staples depending on the sub floor. The ones shown in the picture seem to be the best of all. You can devise an angled piece of wood to shoot the correct angle, but I seem to eyeball it ok and seldom have one blow out.
The nosing trick shown works well if you have a step. We have steps in to the family room, and this is how I finished those out. With a little care, it can look pretty "pro".
Thankfully as a last resort, my Son In Law has his own tile and flooring business so hints, tricks, or even help is only a phone call away!!!! BTW: The topping on my work bench shown is Bruce Hardwood left over from my house job. It has been on 2 years and still looks great. And I am NOT careful with it.

Love you're garage man  Especially the racedeck and color combo.

Even the single car garage's you guys have in the states are big compared to what we have here. In my single @ home my car barely fits, I don't even have to think about having storage or a workspace in there too.

Thanks for posting. I'm actually in Canada though. :) Maybe the pics make it seem bigger but it is super tight. That really crystallizes the importance of organization and figuring out the best spot for any given item. I've gone through a lot of trial and error to get it to the point of functioning the way i want/need it. The key is things off the floor and up as much as possible and to the extremities.

Canada is a state. :p

You've made such good use of your space, it looks bigger than it actually is

I haven't snapped a pic of mine but i picked up one of these last week. Its a black magnetic paper towel roll holder.

Mine is black but i got the idea from this identical one, minus the colour and logo :)

I've wanted to get one for awhile as its uber useful in a garage especially since its magnetic and can be moved to several locations. Back when i first had planned to get one, they were available at Griots but the price to my door greatly discouraged me. For my fellow Canadians i got mine at Canadian Tire, made by Mastercraft for $14.99!!!

Damn dubber, I already bought one, but it's NOT magnetic. OK, since I live way down south of you I guess I have to get the Griot's one. And yes, I have their catalog. Does having one that isn't magnetic give me any credits? LOL

Spent yesterday cleaning my sister's car for her. She is the polar opposite to me so in terms of her car, it gets no love lol.... Its a MINI so it was awesome having it in the garage with tons of room to maneuver around. I washed it on the driveway but we hit 40 degrees yesterday so needless to say i quickly brought it in to the garage to finish up. I'll try and get a couple pics up.

Here we go, here are a few from my last cleaning session of sis' car. I always kick myself not taking quality before pics but this was horrible. I used to have the same car (05 Pepper white MINI, her's is an 06) and i spent countless hours removing those little iron gold spots all over the car. This was my first real test of "Iron X" and i have to say its amazing:thumbup: Saved me soo much work.

Wheels before:

After the first wash and then applied the Iron X. It devours those "rust" spots and turns purple.

WOW 40 deg!! Makes one hunt a jacket. We are into the 80s-90s with a massive tornado every few minutes around here (AR/MO/KS/OK). I got tired of them and just slept through last night's round, until the tornado sirens started their whealing. Get your sister a bottle of Megular "Last Touch". You can get it Amazon or a good auto house. All you need is two microfibers and a spray of Last Touch and anyone can have a shiny car with little effort. Also, there is a you tube video on it, along another video on waterless car washing, these made by Megular's. Your very nice to do the ride up for your sister!!!!

Best Regards

Thanks! I guess i should qualify my statement, 40 degrees Celsius so 104 Fahrenheit ;)

P.S. I actually used Meguiars Ultimate Compound and Ultimate Liquid Wax during the cleaning session.

wow that Iron X really did those wheels good!! I always search for a quality product when I, just as you, do a favor for family on the abused rides. The wheels can be the most trying as half the time their not cleaned. I'll definitely need to look into this stuff! Great job!

For general hand cleaning between tasks I keep baby-wipes in my shop. We have 2 kids so have used them on their butts back when they needed it and always kept a container in the car. Turned out so helpful that even with the kids house-trained  we still buy them and have 'em around the house, in the cars and, yes, I found them to be useful in my shop.

We buy them in bulk at CostCo (using their Kirkland brand) and it will last months:

(Sorry for the large picture) However, I'm guessing most any baby wipe will work. Just keep the lid closed on it so it doesn't dry out. Also, I recommend the 'bag' style (pictured) instead of the tall cylinder style or hard box style because of better stability and ease when getting to the last few cloths. BTW, the Kirkland is not ultra-soft like they claim, in fact, we were buying a name-brand (Huggies or Pampers I think) and the material was much softer as it was made from cotton. CostCo then switched to "their" brand and it uses wood fiber and it is definitely not softer...still safe for a baby's ****, though, and safe enough to wipe grease off a car's paint.

104F in Canada? Now I know the HAARP is working full time to squash us.

Surprising for a lot of people from the states. In the summer we get significant humidity levels.

Thanks, yes it definitely works and saves a bunch of elbow grease. Nice to see you do that as well. Almost a little selfish getting credit for helping out a family member when its doing something i really enjoy!

Nice work on the Mini. I agree, Iron X is a great product. I get a little disappointed when I use it on my cars because I don't get much purple!

Your cars are too clean lol... Not a bad problem to have

thanks for the tip, and yes DAMN that is a big pic LOL...

The upper left side of the garage door...is that day-light leaking by? If so you have another job ;) I had to do this at our last house. Easy task.

Actually luckily for me that isn't a leak, just a weird reflection from the flash of my cell camera.

Haha! A massive photo of Baby Wipes in Dubber's thread! I can just imagine the look on his face!

:lol_hitti, AMEN!
