Duct insulation recommendations ?

Our old farm house has an unheated basement under most of it and a crawl space under the rest.

Does anyone have a good way to insulate the heat runs ? Round, maybe eight inch.

Maybe that would make the floor too cold ?

You really want to keep the basement halfway warm or you have cold floors.

You can buy duct insulation. Comes on a roll.

You can buy duct sleeve, it's basically the outer jacket of flex and the fiberglass insulation, we always got it in 5 foot lengths.
You would have to disconnect one end of the duct to slide it on.

What Burt said. But also if you get any sweating (condensation) during cooling use the insulating sleeves. Outer covering is a vapor barrier. Will significantly improve cooling performance in the house proper. It takes a lot of energy to condense water. Yours is probably heat only but mention this here for sake of duct insulation passers by

Thanks, it is for AC also. There is some condensation in the summer, the basement is very humid.

Looking at insulation rolls, it seems fiberglass with aluminum face is the thing to use.

A little roll like that is going to be a rip-off. It's half the price for thicker insulation (3") at the supply house. That's in a 4x50' roll. You can get 1 1/2" for a quarter the price of what you linked

Best to do something about the humidity in the basement also. I run a dehumidifier to keep humidity down in the summer

I like to poke at people keeping their shop really warm but the bathroom is one place I'll turn up the heat!
