Ductless for spot heating and cooling

Curious if anyone has ever used these systems for spot heating or cooling. I have 2 really inefficient gas heaters in my 6000 sq ft commercial shop with 25ft ceilings, no fans, so all they do is heat the ceiling. Because of this they burn a ton of gas to heat the shop floor, and while I could install fans, I like the prospect of cooling from the mini split for the couple months it would be nice. I would have 8 total units at 12k BTU each spread across the shop and office areas, with there being 3 different outside exchange units to reduce piping lengths. Each unit would be primarily heating/cooling an area of no more than 25x16 in the shop, with the majority of that in a 25x8 area.

I don't intend to cool my entire shop with ductless units, I plan to just have them in individual areas to be turned on and off as necessary. Basically just spot heating or spot cooling when there is someone in the area. Primarily they'll be used for heating as 6-8 months of the year it's not necessary, but makes it comfortable to be working on a car. The shop is insulated decently, and when the doors are shut it keeps the heat in pretty well. A ducted system is out of the question due to the ROI on savings. With the math I've done I can completely get a return on energy savings within 1.5 years of use compared to the gas. That's calculated running all 8 units all hours of the day, every day of the year.

My question is this; Am I crazy? Can these really be used for spot heating/cooling effectively? I've looked into other "spot coolers/heaters" and they are just industrial grade portables. Give me your thoughts GJ
