I have been thinking about going this route in my garage since I could have the benefit of heat in the winter and a little a/c in the summer. I live in the midwest where we get alot of cold snowy days and alot of hot humid summer days, are these a viable option in my area. Guess I'm just looking to see if anyone is running one and what they thought. BTW my garage is 24x30.

Thanks,
Mike

They have quite a few posts here on the units. I live in Kansas and I was against the unit for winter use because of a heat pump isn't very good in cold weather and I don't want to pay for electric heat. The general idea seems very good for the AC though although I would want to wonder if only one vent will cool or heat the building very fast. If you leave it on it should work decent.

Thanks for the response. My searching skills must be diminishing over time because I got almost every post every day. I was kind of on the fence since it is a way to get a/c in my garage instead of just heat, you reaffirmed what I was thinking with the electricity. I think I'll stick with the vented heater.

Thanks again.

If you are going to go with a gas heater might want to look at a package or combination unit. What it is a self contained complete unit that you sit outside and just run the ductwork and the power to it. I have one for the house and have liked it. For a garage it would be nice in that the noise is outside. A friend I had ran his ductwork along the floor of his garage and liked it because the heat was down where he was working on the car. Mine has both the AC and gas heat in the one unit. Fast and easy to hook up and get to running. Just a thought.
