off topic but I just put a new tri-fuel carburetor on my 8750 HF Predator generator last week. brand new carb with the demand regulator all set up for $60. best money I ever spent. I never seem to have gas sitting around in cans, I buy it and fill whatever needs it, but propane I always have 3 or 4 tanks...no more dirty carbs for me!

you can add the setup to almost any of the import generators, mine was $60 but the next sizes down (like the one in the OP's link) are cheaper at only $30.

what sort of run times you guys getting out of these and what size tank?

I have luckily not had to deploy mine for an extended outage since I bought it.

Manufacturer website says 8.92 hours at half load for standard 20 jug of propane.

Just keep in mind that a big generator and cold temps will freeze up a bbq tank pretty easily.

Keep an extra on hand to allow for warm ups if you'll rely on it in the winter. I have two 40lb tanks for my 13hp honda

the smaller ones are all over ebay and amazon, but the larger carb for the 420cc engines are a little harder to find.

I got mine here https://www.vpowerequipment.com/thr...Wp6HtUgd2nn7fqF265zACsHa8-jb2bsIaAqJzEALw_wcB

$52.99 + shipping. I used 3/8 propane gas line (a little tight but can slip over the ******) I had from another project, and a BBQ regulator that flows 75k btu (low pressure). if you don't have those on hand for $25 or so you can pick up a hose and regulator from Menards.

no modifications necessary, unbolt old carb, bolt on the new one, attach the linkage back up and screw on the choke leverl

bonus was I have a new unused gas carb as a spare I can sell if needed.

true. you "could" run gasoline in the winter with this kit if needed.

my power doesn't go out in the winter, it's spring or fall when we have storms, so in my area the propane isn't a big deal (and my house runs off propane so in a pinch I could tap off the big tank if needed).

the tri-fuel kit is nice as it will also run off natural gas for you city folk.

The demand on nat gas could be enough to prevent using your furnace at the same time. Mine is tri fuel as well and i haven't bothered working on a nat has hookup for that reason. We lose power so infrequently that it wouldn't be worth spending any money to get a bigger meter

I have the sportsman 4000 watt dual fuel gen. I got it last year dirt cheap. Home depot deal of the day and target also had it for the same price. I think it was $199. Can't remember for sure. I broke it in with propane and changed the oil and haven't needed to use it since.

Enter “PRESUMMER” to get $50 off this generator, good through 5/30.

Just prepped my 5K peak honda last week in prep for hurricane season, ran the old fuel thru it, changed the oil and filled it up with RV gas and added stabil like I did last year, started on the second pull.

I swear by RV gas now with a dose of stabil, even in my 2 cycle stuff I've never had an issue since switching. I used pure-gas.org to find the stations near me with the best price, I think it was about the same as premium price, 3.25 a gallon.

Might have to look at a retrofit for propane since I only keep enough gas on hand to run the gen for about 48 hours on a full load, having a couple 20lb tanks on hand would be much easier for sure.

nothing special, most of mine just sit behind the polebarn under the shed roof overhang, but I have a few 20's that just sit outside. I keep most of them sitting in a milk crate for ease of transport.

Away from my house. They tend to either sit in or next to my shed. I have 2 40# tanks

I'm wanting to store 3 or 4 40lbers. Any dos and don'ts? I live in FL if that matters.

Don't store near fire? Not sure what else there is to it.

I try to keep mine out of the weather.

Remember that the certification expires eventually. 40 lb tanks are an oddball that aren't easily swapped for new like 20's, plua they are kind of expensive to buy new
