dumb question but it there a specific socket made for loosening wingnuts....i need the for work...specialty kind of thing, not for loosening them from hoses and i a socket type of deal....i use pliers at the moment but am interested if there is a socket designed for this application....thanks

Gator Grip!! Haaaaa-haaaaa. Actually, I think I have seen one somewhere. Can't remember where. I took an old deepwell 5/8, 11/16" socket and milled a slot in it to fit the wings. It worked like a champ. I left the company and gave it to the next guy in line

gator grip came to mind but i was looking for something specifically designed.....i no longer have access to a mill so i may just end up with the gator grip.

depending on the size of the wingnut, just take a 5/8" socket and cut 2 notches out of it using a hacksaw (or a grinder)

My wife put a Gator-grip in my Christmas stocking one year. Wingnuts are about the only thing I use it for. It works well.

Ive got one for removing the plastic drain plugs on radiators. Not sure on the size of wing nuts you're using though

Thanks for the post and the links, folks! Just ordered a set from Motion Pro. Every time I ever needed something like this, I always tell myself I'll find a better solution than pliers, and then I always forget!
