Dumbest thing I've done in awhile

Wanted to weld up a sub-frame for a stone countertop before the rain started.

In my hurry, I failed to remove that last bit of wire in the lead when the spool runs out.

Mounted up the new spool, stuck it in the feeder and pulled the trigger.

Now I have two lengths of wire stuck in the whip. Everytime I tried to pull it out, it just broke.

Anybody got any ideas? I had to disassemble the unit and gun to remove the liner.

Talk about a stupid PITA.

I have never done that but I have worn out liners. They are only $10 or so and take just a couple of minutes to replace.

I had to have nine stitches in my left thumb Sunday night for slipping with an exacto knife. If this is the dumbest thing you've done in awhile, then you're doing pretty damn good.

Being a Craftsman welder, parts would have been a pain to get.

I took it to Central Welding in Lynnwood, Wa. on highway 99.

They both looked at it and said 'You're screwed'.

Then they took it in the back and in about 5 minutes came back with it with the wire out. They knew to cut the coil back a bit and they were able to fix it!

Said it would only cost me $1000.

Love great service!

Now, I just have to put it all back together.

Sure the service was great, but at $1000 that was an expensive mistake! I hope you meant $10.00.

All's well that ends well.

It all went back together, and worked as it should.

My 10 minute job turned into an afternoon adventure.

Care to critic my welds?

The service was free.

Good enough. I'd say your hands are not in the most comfortable position. Do a dry run for each pass and get so you just roll your torch hand over the other. Think of drawing a straight line with a pencil holding the pencil half way up and not being able to touch the paper with your hand. Now try that with the pencil 1/8th" off the paper and keeping that distance perfect. If the pencil bobs and weaves, so is your stick out.
