I need a small dump trailer that I can tow behind my 3.0V6 4wd Ford Escape.I need advice of what brand to look for. Featherlite aluminum?
I am shooting for an unladen weight of 1000 pounds or less and a payload of 1000 pounds. This may sound impossible ,particularly in a tandem axle but the PRONOVOST/Solex 50710/4E fits the bill.http://mail.solexcorp.com/productfiles/pronovost/507104e.html
The bed needs to be small -4' x 8' maximum because it must fit into a very restricted space. The normal 6'x8' is too large unless it is a 'deck-over'.
It must be a dump, not a tilt trailer.Hydraulic or hoist/crank/lever type dumping mechanism is O.K.I prefer to avoid the simple hinge+pin system because I would have to convert it to crank or hydraulic.
The other preference I have is for a low deck height. Most are over 24" because they have semi elliptical leaf springs with a beam axle. Independent suspension(like Dexter torsion) would help solve the deck height and weight problem without sacrificing any ground clearance.
I shall use it for gravel,broken concrete and dirt so an ugly but structurally sound +safe one is O.K.
Custom or home made trailers that fit the requirements are O.K. However I had hoped to avoid having to make another trailer .
Any leads on brands or sources would be much appreciated.I live near Los Angeles.
