I know not many are in the Chicago area, but curious on some thoughts on this type of garage flooring. Check out the video on the main page. They mention it is ceramic based.

There is nothing special about this system. It's not that this system is ceramic... it is simply a resin where they broadcast (or spray) colored quartz in to. I think it is pretty misleading to suggest that this is a ceramic system. First, a fancy name for sand is quartz... lol... So, 3M takes sand and colors it with a ceramic coating. I believe that the ceramic coating amounts to about 6%. So, what you have is sand with a very thin ceramic color coating. So, while they are claiming that it is 80% ceramic... well... what it really is would be about 75% sand with 5% ceramic coating and 20% of a binder resin.

A system like this from us would be far stronger than 3000 PSI (more like 12,000-16,000 psi). We would use the same colored quartz but the binder resin would be far more advanced. I'm going to guess that these guys are not manufacturers and are just applicators who purchase products from other people and claim it is their own.

If you are looking to have a quality system professionally installed in the Chicago area then give Fred at AlphaGarage a call. If you want a DIY solution... give Fred a call..

Thanks for the post and info. It caught my eye and was curious on its claims.

Actually, I have already emailed Fred and received a pricelist and quote :) He was very helpful and informative. From what I've read, your products are far superior to most of the competition, but as with most things, quality and price are parallel. If prices were all equal and affordable, of course I'd use your products!

I'm just waiting for a Garage Flooring bailout, followed by the Garage Flooring stimulus so I can afford your products. I'll be keeping my eye open for Wolverine Coatings Stimulus Program. Maybe even be like the upcoming CARS (www.cars.gov) program where we can trade in crappy garage flooring. Hey, can't blame me for trying! :)

Thanks again,
-Ed

* Begin Rant

Somehow, I don't think anyone here is actually going to qualify for any government stimulus... ever. Government stimulus is only for people who are too lazy to work and don't have enough self esteem to stand on their own two feet. Stimulus is for the people who are (and have been) grossly irresponsible and don't plan on taking responsibility for their action. And, why should they since those of us who work can pay for them to live it up!

Cool... thanks for considering us.

I'm just like the rest of you who are sick and tired of companies who lie to get sales. I mean, it's like we can't trust any company at all because they are all so greedy that they put profit above all principle. This attitude is certainly not what made America great.
