Was at a home show today and they had a booth set up. The rep touted how superior was to epoxy based coatings and emphatically stated their syst3m is not epoxy based. He said it was a superior type of plastic infused with ceramic. Went on to say etching was all that was needed, the resin gets squeeged on at 70mills thick to fill all divots (up to an 1/8"). Flakes are broadcast into this coat and a 2nd clear top coat is applied on day two. According to him, it's just as chemical/abrasion resistant as polyspartic and way better than an epoxy or urethane. Oh and it only slightly ambers.

Ok, so right away I'm thinking, BUNK!

So tell me. ...."your right. ...bunk"

"Partially true, rest bunk.... Here's why" or "oh yeah man, all true! Durabond is amazing!"

It's funny how epoxy/urethane floors are spec'd daily by architects and engineers for industrial applications yet I've never seen a spec for an 100% acrylic floor.

I would never lay out a single 70 mil application, especially to a floor that is anything less than an ICRI CSP-5 surface prep.

According to their data sheet, its adhesion to concrete is less than most epoxies.

I guarantee you the chemical resistance is not there.

"Oh and it only slightly ambers." Yeah, well I've seen clear polyurethances not amber after years of sun exposure in the SouthWest.

"your right. ...bunk"
