Duraheat forced air heater issues

Hello all,
I am having issues with my torpedo heater. Its a duraheat DFA80T. Ive read so many issues with these heaters but nothing covers my issues. If I turn it on, it fires right up, but you can hear the flame getting weaker, then it turns to heavy smoke and shuts off. I can turn the switch off, wait 5 seconds turn it back on and the same thing. I opened it up and noticed that the igniter stops about 30-45 seconds after start up. Is this normal or does the igniter continually work? It does however continue to run a little while after the igniter stops.

I have a 70,000 btu torpedo thats 10 years old and had not been run in about 9 years. Went to fire it up last week for my concrete pour and had same problem. turns out that the rubber fuel line and rubber air line were all dry rotted(checked them thanks to youtube). Replaced both for $3 and runs great now.

Heres the manual. C!ean the fuel filter and was there old fuel residue in the tank?
