I've done a search on the but can't come up with anything.I had been wanting a set of metric low profile sockets for a while now.I had been eye balling the Snap On set but just couldn't come off the money for something I won't use to often.Granted the Snap On are better quality.I was in Autozone picking up a few things and noticed the Duralast low profile 3/8 metric socket set for $19.99 so I grabbed em up.Made in Taiwan so they can't be half bad.Haven't had a chance to use them yet but here are a couple of pictures. The chrome seems decent.I really like the tray they came in it will fit nicely in a drawer.

Does anybody else have these. If so whats your thoughts on them.

Redfreightshaker2016,

I do not own the Duralast set. However, the same OEM that makes that set makes the Powerbuilt set sold at O'Reilly Auto Parts. Here is the link to the Powerbuilt set: LINK. However, the Duralast set is a better deal.

Thanks for the info.I didn't know O'Reilly's had them.Of course I don't go in there much.Duralasts are an excellent deal if you have the rewards on your card.I just got the $20 reward on my card yesterday and plan on going and picking up the SAE set and use the points. Then all I have to pay is the tax

I have been keeping an eye out for one with 19mm. There are a few out there but cost much more.

I just bought the metric and sae set today. I think they're really nice for the money. The socket holders are really nice, similar to the blow molded cases used with larger tool kits.

I'd be curious to try these, but also wondering what their advantage would be over a ratcheting wrench that would almost be flush with the fastener?

Who knows?

Sometimes a ratcheting wrench can be a disadvantage. The head of the ratcheting end is wider, and sometimes thicker (vertically) than a comparable non-ratcheting wrench or any socket.

I ran into this undoing the castle nut on the lower ball joint of my wifes Cavalier. The ball joint stud protrudes up through the knuckle and is restricted in two ways. One- There's not a lot of room in between the top of the stud and the cv boot (but I think these sockets would've fit), and two- there's not enough side clearance to fit the bulky boxed end of a ratcheting wrench.

I wound up using the open end of a wrench and flipping it over each time to engage the flats. I think these sockets would've been just the trick. I couldn't fit a regular ratchet and socket from the top, and a ratcheting wrench was to thick too clear the knuckle from the sides.

For that price I'll have to check these out. Been looking for a set but would use them so rarely I didn't want to pay too much.

I really wish these were 6 point. I don't have very many 12 point sockets, so maybe these will fill a need.

Hey Exceller8, How have they been holding up? I'm curious if the 12 point uses a modern off corner engagement design.
