Yeah.. No Biggie.. It sounds like the Duralast Ratchet is appealing to many Here and has some Usage to back it up. I do question the longevity claims and Snap on Comparison claims but only time will tell. How long has Duralast been making ratchets? Does anyone have a 15 year old Duralast Ratchet?
such as? ten characters
I'm not really sure what this has to do with ratchets, but...

One of the coolest trucks ever built imo
One thing common to most older Jap vehicles is that their bodies do rust faster than you can blink an eye.
How did kia's get brought up? If you can't work on a kia then you need to find a new line of work.
?
Geez sorry I ever mentioned Kia.
I don't think you get my point. In 40 years how do you think this ratchet will hold up? Do you think the quality of chrome and thickness of chrome, the alloy makeup, the steel used to make the mechanism, etc etc will hold up? If you think it'll hold up great that awesome. Nothing like supporting cheap labor and piss poor working conditions. Right on!
Yeah lets forget about all the related jobs getting the ratchet to the shelf and raised unemployment another 10%. Buy your stuff at a Flea market and lose another 5% Buy more used stuff on ebay and take out 20% more. Great planYea screw americans. Lets just buy foreign china stuff and we'll keep the unemployment at 12%.
Dear Supreme Being: What have I, Bull, done to deserve this thread?
Can someone please send me a PM when a thread about ratchets gets this totally off topic and just plain bad? When I first was in here, it was fine. Now, it's gone all to Heck.
I don't even know when I'm going to find time to clean it all up.
I really don't see the point of all the fuss over me just telling people what I think about a tool. I'm sorry that so many people feel so threatened by the exsistance of a quality tool that wasn't built in the USA, Germany or the rest of the old country. The fact remains it is an excellant ratchet in it's price range. Some guy who doesn't want to dump over 100 dollars in a new ratchet or could be on a limited budget would find a good tool here. It's just that simple and uncomplicated. If you don't like them don't buy them.

I definitely see your point here and in the end a fine tool is a fine tool. I'm just not at the point yet where I can feel good about using this Taiwan/China stuff. I guess it is in part a mind thing. Some of us have allegiances to certain brands for whatever reason. It could be because we grew up with them or the plant is in our town or we have a thing about using US tools on American cars or German tools on German cars or whatever.

And that is exactly how the Germans and Japanese eat the US car companies' lunch. Blind loyalty that resulted in laziness of design and manufacture. Now Chrysler is own by Fiat for God sakes and GM is only open because the US government dumped loads of cash into them and kissed it good buy. In reality only Ford has survived without bending over.![]()

GM is a new company they lefy all the dept and property with the old company
I don't think you get my point, Sam the gearhead may need a ratchet. He doesn't have 100+ dollars for it and needs it tommorow. Whats the best he can get for 20 dollars? I think it's Duralast.s the reason I wrote about it because it worthy. That In 40 years it will be holding up as good as any other 40 year old ratchet. It's a ratchet and a well built one. You have personal information on the plant they are made in and the people who made them. Please share
I believe I officially am the reason this thread went into cars lol. I dont get how one could be working on a car and not have a spare ratchet. I think we all have 2 of each kind.
Either way I just come across a lot of information on overseas factories and qc. I can't speak for all but Im not going to investigate. All the manufacturing shops I've been to in the states and Canada have very good QC. And I work for a machine tool manufacturer so I goto mfg facilities every week. I hate to see shops first hand laying off employees.
I'll put it this way, Somebody somewhere in Taiwan has some serious quality control going on. You don't just build that nice a tool without it. Somewhere back a few years ago some American companies forgot about quality control. Somewhere along the way American workers decided it was easier to live off welfare, disability, lay out high, drunk or a thousand other reasons not to show up to do an honest days work when they were perfectly healthy to do so. For every 100+ applications that came across my desk there may have been 2-3 that could fill a position for an auto technician and they were these.I All the manufacturing shops I've been to in the states and Canada have very good QC. mrholeshot, do you have or have you tried the 60 tooth Gearwrench ratchets? I see they have a comfort handle flex head ratchet that is 13" long.
