Duralast socket sets

Has anyone bought and used any of the newest Duralast socket sets? I think Duralast shifted/changed suppliers back to a Taiwan OEM . The new sets they have on sale and are all Taiwan made like seen in the link below.
All the loose ratchets are now 72t as well and have the same part numbers as the old 36t. Some older sets are China but all the newest are Taiwan and seem pretty decent for the money. I need a 1/4 drive set for the service van so it needs to have a carry case and I think I may pick up the above set. Someone walked off with my Gearwrench 51pc set while doing some GPS installs at local landscaping/snow plowing company. I know it was one of the drivers. They were NOT HAPPY the boss was going to now be monitoring them. I was doing them inside the large shop and was using a nearby table for a bench(owner put it there for me to use) and when I went to get them they were gone.

I can't comment on the Duralast, but that's a bummer about your Gearwrench set. I'm guessing you've seen in Hot Deals that there's a 2 for 1 on that same set with a 3/8" set for around $85 shipped, if you want to replace it. I got mine last night and am very pleased, the 120T ratchets are definitely the smoothest I've owned.

sounds like the HF version but idk for sure....

i know there older duralast 36t comfort grip ratchets where good. alot of people liked them. little tight on the back drag but was a good strong ratchet. the insides where a copy of a snap on or some ****. i cant recall right now tho.

Man I am to the point where the road stuff just cant be expensive at all. I have had more stuff lost or stolen in the past couple of years than the last 15 combined. I dont know why. I think its maybe I have just been so busy but the stolen stuff has happened a lot more and I dont know why. It been all at upfitters or on customer sites. A couple can be classified as lost or stolen. I have had stuff where I KNOW where I left and call the customer only to have them say " its not here" . Lately I dont let **** out of my site. I bought a collapsable cart that I keep everything on and keep it next to me. I know some of these employees at places Im doing GPS installs at are doing this **** on purpose because they dont want me ruining there side work while working because the boss can now track them. I have literally almost come to blows with guys not wanting them in their trucks. I even had a adjustable wrench thrown at me with my back turned. So thats why I have been buying some cheaper but decent stuff for the road tool set and keeping the good stuff at the home shop.

You shouldn't have to put up with that ****. Tell their boss to get his animals under control if he wants the job done. Same goes for the tools.

The problem is most of the time I dont notice until the next day or the next time I need it. Dont get me wrong its half my fault for either leaving it there or having too far from my sight. I have changed behaviors to prevent it but it stings a LOT lest when one piece a 20pc $19.99 Kobalt screwdriver set that looks a lot like a mac set goes missing. Then when a one $20 snap on screwdriver goes missing. I didnt thing that $40 Gearwrench set I got at Advanced Auto was that special but someone else did.

Some people will steal anything. Their maturity level is obviously a problem. You are getting paid to do a job same as them. You're both working for the same guy at that point in time. I have a few Duralast sockets. The magnetic spark plug didn't work on tall Bosch Platinum plugs. The 21mm I cut down to make a mid length and worked. The T60 worked too. The stuff coming out of Taiwan is pretty good overall. 15 years ago there were fewer options.

Last weekend I starting doing a brake job on my truck (2500HD) and broke a 30 year old USA Craftsman 21mm socket. Needing one in a hurry and the nearest Sears is over 30 miles away I went to Autozone and bought a Duralast 21mm and proceeded to break that too. It was a Taiwan made socket and I was really reefing on it with a breaker bar. Not saying they're junk because the Craftsman broke as well.

the boss just bought a couple of the 3/8 drive sets for the tow trucks seemed pretty nice as i engraved each socket with company name and truck number.

I have quite a few sets and tools from duralast, the new style 36t ratchets are snap on clones and very nice, the sockets are pretty top notch for taiwan as well, the 72t ratchets are I believe the same internals as hft, all in all they are good but putt them next to Pittsburgh pro sockets and you will see they are the same exact thing with a higher price, the Pittsburgh pro stuff is really nice and really cheap, perfect for road work, if you don't have a hot around then duralast is the next best thing for price.

It's a damm shame that you work in a place and your tools disappear. Sometimes you accidentally walk away and forget to secure a tool and it's gone. I have the same problem. I work in a lawn equipment business/shop and bought a combo of duralast ,husky and gearwrench sets just so I don't lose any of my SO. I have a smaller four draw SO cart for the shop. They have worked very well for me and I have peace of mind. I just recently ordered a KRSC 46 but I don't think I'm going to bring into this place.

It's not any one place. I work at multiple sites so I don't know anyone else. So I have no idea who is the problem. So I have taken measures to prevent it. I have a collapsible cart and have been mixing in cheaper less desirable stuff as I go. It is a shame but there is not much I can do.

I was in autozone yesterday looking at their Duralast stuff. I would get the Taiwan made stuff. The 72 tooth ratchets seemed nice. I think you get a lot for $20 on sale. It has a warranty and their are lots of Autozones around. I would use brakeclean to get rid of the red/blue markings since they use red for metric though but, that's just me.
With the potential for loss/theft, I wouldn't buy anything more expensive. I would also consider spraying neon paint across the tools to make them stand out as yours. Sorry for your loss.

I bought the 45pc set for 19.99 yesterday. I am very impressed by the quality so far (yea I know only 1 day). The case is awesome for using on the road. Seems very durable. The over all fit and finish is great. Chrome is damn near perfect. The 72t ratchet is VERY nice. It doesent have the loose selector feel that the Kobalt and HF 72t ratchets have. It actually feels like the Snap On selector. There is a "click" when direction is switched. It doesnt feel like it will self reverse. I dont use 3/8dr much when on the road but do need it sometimes. I will be buying the 3/8 set in the near future. I will also be buying the new 72t flex head ratchets. These are some good tools for cheap. Now I can keep my Snap On and other more expensive USA made stuff at the shop. I only used the 7mm and 10mm so far and the fit on the bolt was nice. No slop.

It is not. It is a sealed head design like Snap on and the old craftsman 84t premium ratchets

I will try. But I Don't think I have a torx driver that small. Well I guess it's an excuse to buy more tools. I will also say it's a very smooth ratchet. It just feels like a quality tool.
