Thanks for all the info here guys.. I've been watching and learning. After looking at all the products, I decided to go with Durall's Dura Poxy for my 850 sq ft garage here in Rochester, MN. Durall is in close proximity, only about 1 hour north west in Minneapolis. They seemed very helpful and easy to work with.

I had a couple buddies help me move everything out of the garage (that was a ton of ****!!) and we hand scrubbed the floor down with push brooms and water. We squeegied everything out, hit some bad areas with a belt sander, and rented a floor scrubber.

Tomorrow is prep day. 1- Durall's cleaner/degreaser scrubbed into the concrete with a black cleaning pad (pretty abrasive). 2- Durall's kleen and etch solution scrubbed into the concrete with the scrubber. 3 and 4 - Two water rinses both utilizing the scrubber to ensure all residue from acid etching is removed. I'll probably do 1 more good rinse at the end without scrubbing.

Then it's time to patch the two 4-5 inch divots/holes (probably from salt) with the durapoxy patch kit, along with the stress joints. Durall said to let it dry for a couple hours as it wasn't required to be BONE dry for days (which is nice. Hopefully I have enough epoxy patch kit. If I do run out, what's the next best thing? Something I can get a menards/lowes/fleet farm?

Durall said that I didn't have to wait but a couple hours between prep and epoxy application. As long as the floor was while, and had no visible water, I should be good to go.

I have 7 gallons of light beige (fawn color) for a base coat with just about a full broadcast 1/4 inch chips from Chips Unlimited (55 lbs). Black, ivory, and a couple different light and darker brown colors.

I have 7 more gallons of clear to top coat the chips.

Wish me luck and PLEASE..... if anyone has any recommendations... things to not forget... or things to definitely do... please reply! I'd hate for $1500 bucks to go down the drain!

I'll post pics as things progress.

OH.. one more thing. Thanks to Ken Ingman (Kingham) from www.garage-interiors.com for the kind advice and recommendation on Durall. Ken was nice enough to email me tips and tricks for application as he does Durall floors. It was greatly appreciated! Thanks Ken!!!

I was just checking out the Durall website, the floors look great. Are you Dura Seal 400 or the Dura Poxy? I am very interested in seeing pictures of the installation. Good luck!

2 nights ago I got all the cracks patched using the durapoxy patch kit. It actually worked very well. I was quite surprised. Last night I had 2 guys come over to help. We did the 850 sq ft in 3 sections (total of 7 gallons). I used 55 lbs of a chip/flake mix from flakes unlimited. It wasn't quite enough for a "full broadcast", but I'd definitely say it's HEAVY. So far it looks really good. Tomorrow the clear goes down, probably in 2 sections (again 7 gallons). I'm using the Durapoxy (not duraseal) which is the 100% solids "good stuff".

Couple more...

You can see the expansion joints very slightly... I should have taken more time on the patching of them... Didn't know how fussy to be...

Overall I am VERY happy with the floor. The application was actually much easier than I thought it would be. So far I'd DEFINITELY recommend the Durall product to anyone. It seems to be a quality epoxy floor.. that's for sure.

Thanks to Stan and Brian for the assistance with the entire process (and enduring my perfectionist attitude... ). I typically do things twice as much as the directions say... :)

Greatly appreciated.... you're right, and sometimes it's hard to keep that in perspective. The greatest part of the garage is the people that enjoy the space after you're done! We've already done many "eat outs" in the new garage. Nothing special.. .just burgers and chips. The kiddies love eating outside with the garage door open.

How many lbs of chips short do you estimate you were? For my 500 sq ft garage I was told 60 lbs, so i am buying 65 lbs!

Looks Great, A good bit of work but worth it.
Did you put on clearcoat ?

A few photos of my 30' x 26' interior finishing project, the epoxy really puts on that showroom look.

I still have a few things to do.......

Here's my epoxy project thread:

Looks great! How has it held up over the years? What did you fill in the contraction joints with? Have those held up without cracking over the years or would you recommend doing it differently.
